Reece Oxford is close to signing a season long loan move to Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach. West Ham's 18 year old star of the future spent five relatively unsuccessful months on loan at Reading last season, he has had a medical ahead of a move to Germany where it is hoped that he can hone his skills ready to take his place in the first team. Oxford was the second youngest player to start a Premier League match when he played against Arsenal, aged 16 years and 198 days, in August 2015. Oxford signed a new four and a half year deal at West Ham in December 2016, and he was originally going to be 'fast tracked' however it now seems his development will be under less scrutiny in Germany than if he had stayed on these shores. - Ed

Should be pushing Ginge out of the squad by now. If not we should sell. Obviously not as good as the early hype.

Maybe it's a foreign exchange student programme and they owe us one? A sort of BOGOF - Maybe we will get a shed load of Bratwurst in return for the players canteen..!!

If hes good enough for a decent side in the bundesliga then why not the hammers?he didnt get much of a look in at Reading,so is this a wise decision to send him to Germany?i agree with D.H,either give him a chance at westham or get rid!

Get rid of him? I understand he has stagnated in some eyes but the boy IS still a kid! Jeez. I thought we were better than that on here. Yeah because he is the grand old age of 18 and should really be pushing for a England place by now.

Jeez Louise grow a pair it opinions. My lord this site used to have some banter that would put you in rehab if you found this a challenging view.
This decision seems to imply we think we are Chelsea. Sending players out but not breaking the cord as too scared they'll come back to haunt us, but not brave enough to play them. It's a crap decision for all parties and leaves us no nearer a platform required to push on.

For this season would be critical if I was a youth player. If youngsters were no where near given a chance instead of foreign mediocrity I'd be off like a shot. It's no good having a youth set up if they are not being considered at any stage. People need hope and bilic isn't giving the kids that. Mind you neither are the board ATM.
