It's quite possible that Koeman might be sacked soon, (a few rumours hinting that) if he does and Sullivan doesn't get him immediately and sacks bilic, then we know we are going nowhere. People say no one is available so why sack bilic well I'm damn sure we won't get anyone better than Koeman in the summer. Of course there are better managers but we won't be after them. When bilic goes no one in the prem or any other top football country will touch him with a barge pole, whereas Koeman will get decent offers.

i think koeman will turn things round at everton. but its whether they give him the time to do so. with their money they could entice someone like ancelloti perhaps so they may get rid. its my belief though that there were just too many changes in players in the summer, they haven't gelled and yes koeman is responsible for that and his mistake imo is that he sold lukaku and didnt buy anyone of note to replace him, so of course they will find it tough. he at least seems to be sticking with what he believes in, it worked at southampton for him and he's not changing his formation on weekly basis like some. i do believe however that a lot of managers and koeman included will be put off by our board. theres just so much stuff going on with them, so much negative stuff..the way they broadcast their thoughts, name managers who will be taking over i.e. fulham guy, name players they will sign and then don't sign. and the whole move fiasco and the way they handled that.

I can't see how Koeman gets the benefit of the doubt when Bilic doesn't tbh? Golden Barca by he may be, but last year's southampton is a distant memory as is Bilic's first season with us. He's spent a load of dough on players and yes lost Lukaku, but we also lots our best player and had a load of new ones that didn't gel. For that season Bilic is sackable? yes his will be forgiven? Don't get it

i think the its a personal opinion on who we think is a better manager. you think bilic, no probs, we think koeman. personally i base it on the job he did for two seasons at southampton and then the experience from ajax, feyenoord etc. for me he has far more experience than Bilic who apart from the croatia job, has done little at club level. I'm also a fan of koeman's philosophy of bringing young players into the team and training them, improving them whereas i don't see anything in that way from bilic. just my opinion. we can also draw comparison to bilic last season v koeman this season but then its not fair is it, as koeman has only had 6 games and bilic was judged on the season?

I think Rice will play a part this season, he has had a few young ones on the bench. I just think that we won't know really because Bilic hasn't had Koeman's budget so like everything we can't make a comparison. I'm not a massive Bilic fan if I'm honest but, he has bought 4 key players for the team and I think he needs until at least xmas to see what he can get from them. August was a crap month I get that. You have to write off Man U as loads will lose 4-0 up there. Southampton wasn't bad considering and Newcastle was horrendous. WBA away well that game is always going to be a dull affair. We have lost our way and identity but I think that there's still a chance we can recover it, where you think that it's impossible and want him gone now. I could see with those players and the right way of playing, we could get up the table and have a decent season, I suppose I guess I'm willing to see how it goes where you think it's terminal, it's more about that for me.

listen i agree with you, if things improve then bilic should stay. its just opinions as we see it i guess. I'm looking for improvement season on season, not just with results but performances, recruitment etc. I'm not seeing it. the biggest issue I've got with Bilic is this indecision, this muddle of formations. things were fine season 1, the plan was counter attack and then we lost payet, but why not replace him with someone who can fit into the same system? snodgrass? no sir. after that we seemed to abandon the whole pace, counter attack theme and go for some sort of bore the opposition to defeat with slow, sluggish backwards passing. what on earth happened? where did the energy go? and for me its the managers job to resolve that and he hasn't. not yet anyhow.

I agree. I have to also go and watch it! Which is becoming a total chore btw. It's not great and makes the whole journey to and fro worse. Snodgrass was knee jerk I always thought. Aye as well and totally overpriced. If he gets to Xmas and we haven't seen the best of Arnie and Pea, I think Hart and Zabs have been decent, he should go. Who for? I dunno

people poo poo it but for me i like Dyche. i like the long termness about his approach. its the old conundrum though, if he were to take over at west ham he wouldn't be given the 5 years or so he had building burnley up because we're already up so next step is taking us forwards. its here and now once you are in the prem, thats the way of life it appears in the top tier. no one is interested in the long term build, for while you are building you still have to also get results..not easy. but from a simplistic view i like the likes of dyche, hughton. they don't overcomplicate things, its a basic set up and basic approach but everyone is trained to work hard and do their jobs.

I wouldn't poo poo it as such but it wouldn't happen at west Ham. the expectations are far too high.

Sounds like a lot of excuses for bilic to me. I suppose that's all we can do now. The Manu game is probably the only realistic excuse. He has been given loads of time, benefits of the doubt and their really is no sign of real football being played or a team with shape and organisation, but hey let's give him a bit long! Surely you only give someone longer if we see progress in getting things right. I suppose some people think Huddersfield, Swansea and wba were progress because there were points produced. Oh how our acceptance of these low standards are shining brightly. When I played football regardless of what standards if the team played poorly it was just a horrible experiance for me and felt I didn't want to play football that way. I wonder how Lanzini, Antonio zabaleta and Hernandez will feel whilst bilic stays. P.s I fell sorry for you Betty and any season tickets holders, you deserve so much better. It's just not premiership standard football, so why is there no refunds? For me you wanting him to stay is misguided. It looks like he wants the sack and get his pay off. Trouble is Sullivan doesn't want to pay him off so it's a Mexican stand off at the expense of the club, the team, and the fans. Sullivans stance on this will have long term damage on the club. Whether that be players leaving, not coming or ditto fans. If the last 15 months of football hasn't turned off any young kids then they need to be committed to an asylum.

It's probably for me not a case for being a massive Bilic fan but a massive West Ham fan. If there's a chance we can build on these results, I accept not performances, then we will remain safe. I still see us as a higher mid table team, nothing more. Everyone spent better than us in the transfer window, apart from Spurs who already have a top 4 team. What I'd like to know is how do you come back if he turns it around. Just say he's got the International break and he sorts out the formation and players positioning and we go on a winning streak till xmas maybe leaving us top 8? I know its a big if, but how do you personally come back from there?. You want him gone now whatever, but how could we get rid of him?. You will struggle to change your mind because you wanted him out after 3 games if your honest. Yes the season before, but then the season before that, Payet etc..... We have to go on there here and now and tomorrow I'm afraid. John Lyall got us relegated but was also, alongside Ron Greenwood one of our greatest managers. We're 7 games in and had a crap start, we could, again a big could, go on and finish as high as we did the season before last. How would you justify then wanting him out? As much as mangers always get blamed for things going wrong, players have to actually run and kick and play the game. Ranieri for me epitomises everything wrong wit the player manager relationship in football. One minute a city's hero, statues open top buses the next sacked for getting results that Leicester should get. I just think that we have to give him time. He worked well for us season one so it can be done. BTW this is not a witch hunt a genuine question.

if i may put my opinion forwards, id say that i think most of us judge what we see here and now. that is, its not going particularly well right now so here and now something needs changing, whether that be the manager or our form I'm pretty sure it doesnt matter. that said, if bilic turned it around like you said and the side started gelling, playing good stuff and winning, no one will be complaining too much. however, there is a lot of work for SB to do to get to that point, so right now he's nowhere near it. its out of our hands anyhow, he's there, he's not there, who else comes in…sadly we can't control that so really at the end of the day we just comment. The ranieri one is remarkable really….i can see it two ways…the man did a clough style masterpiece of a season but then lost the plot next season. i think they should have stuck with him all things considered as shakespeare is no improvement, but thats footballing life in the top flight…its all about the now..and thats what they are all paid for…the now.

Pards got us to a memorable cup final,Billy Bonds & Redknapp didnt do too bad at times, but who else have we had that has been any more than mediocre??Jeez people still go on about allardyce, which makes me laugh my head off, slav is the same- MEDIOCRE...we are westham, are a mid table AT THE VERY BEST prem side,we wont attract a top manager - GET USED TO IT!!!

Betty totally Agree on raneri. I didn't want bilic out after 3 games. I wanted him out at the end of last season. Why do you seem to have forgotten or disregarded last season? For me it's not results it about entertainment. There is no entertainment in the way we play or indeed the shambles it's all become. I'd argue we are actually worse this season rather than last, and we were terrible last season! So bilic has failed to address that on any level for the whole of last season, this preseason and the games since. That's around about 15 months, not 3 games! So I don't understand how anyone can say give him time. It just doesn't sound logical, infact it reads like people are sticking their head in the sand. How does he come back from it? Well for me, he needs to get them fitter, settle on his formation, pick a well balanced side, stop playing his favourites and pick the players that are performing. And finally regardless of results play a brand of football that's enjoyable to watch. I don't care what division we are in the team needs to entertain. It's what the club was built on.

up
13 users have voted.

No my question is how do you come back from where you are now if he turns it around? You wanted him out before the season started and we finished realistically where we should have, after the Payet debarcle. Do you think you're relaitstic in what you expect? Apart from the top teams most clubs don't entertain they just battle to get points to stay in the league. I think some fans are so detached from the team its easy to chop and change when they feel like. If you guys supported Palace you'd have been looking for manager number three already after 7 games. There aren't enough qualified people out there. If you want lovely entertaining football, it ain't gonna happen at West Ham anytime soon, you may as well get used to that or look for another hobby. BTW unfortunately it is all about results nothing else, the money in football dictates that. We all have a choice to go and watch or not or switch off our PCs

Betty, am I being realistic? I think I am without doubt being realistic. Asking for my team to play entertaining football in an entertainment industry. Something that makes me want to go and watch the team. Some excitement. Why is that not realistic? I'm not expecting ANYTHING outside of that. If that is too much in this day and age in football then is it any wonder why fans are falling out of love with football. I'm not disagreeing with all you and hammer65 have said infact there are some decent points from both of you. Are you saying that we have to put up with anti-football just to exist as a team? Of course not, but like has been said its all about money and scrapping around making sure you are not in the bottom 3. That might be good for the greedy board and hangers or even the new breed of fan but not for me. I'm happy to to except bilic on any terms if he was playing decent football that's as simple as it gets. So both he and I can easily come back from this unless you feel bilic ISNT realistically capable than doing this. So my thoughts on turning it around may not be the same as yours. If he finishes top 8 playing this way I wouldn't like it either. But if we get relegated playing watchable football I'd be happy. I just think some people have accepted the only thing that matters is winning. It's about a lot more than that. After all you yourself said its not easy watching the way we play. I'm sticking to my principals I'm old school. Get another hobby? It's already happening for me and thousands around the country. You have only got to read this board to hear what other people do or rather do to see people are drifting away. Trouble is we are all hoping things will change as we now only follow West Ham from afar rather be a fan.

could it get to a point where no one really bothers to go to prem league football? preferring instead to watch the odd match on t.v and go instead to their local lower league team? the way things are going, the prem league could turn into an even more stale, tepid affair as the gap between the billionaires and millionaires grows wider. we're already seeing an elite league at the top again. it was broken in the leicester season with chelsea failing and manu too…but for me its going to be like this season after season. i even think soon man c will become untouchable, the amounts they spend even compared to chelsea are becoming silly. how much did they pay for two full backs? lol.

It will get worse,& this season has really emphasised the point, ridiculous amounts of money being spent...for me the benchmark is sigurdsson-5o million!!Would he improve our team even if our owners were prepared to pay that sort of money?i dont think so,so what do you pay now for a decent player 100 mill??Neymar 200 mill to PSG,the prices are off the scale,so how on earth can this be sustained??like you say mate normal people will stop going IMO.

I think it has become a sad fact of modern day Football, that finishing 4th place has now become more important than winning the FA Cup, or even the EFL Cup for that matter, win both of those trophies in a season and finish outside the top 4, that season is really considered as a failure lol

Look at palace,7 losses from the first 7 games -unheard of in the prem...we are what we, battling to stay out of the bottom 3 & hopefully move up towards mid-table...the game that we all grew up on,supporting our team through thick & thin, is all about who has the wealthiest owners nowadays.Sad fact but true....
i will go a few games this season but its not an important part of my life anymore,i havnt watched MOTD once this season, havnt watched any other prem games apart from westham & even on holiday last week i was on the beach rather than watch the spuds & swans games!!The money in the game has changed football for ever im afraid.

I've drifted further from the game than I ever thought could happen. I've watched one WH game this season on the box and that was the defeat to Spuds cos it was on at a favourable time. I check the result first thing and read the report and think if it's worth a gander I'll watch it on demand. So far we've played shit by all accounts inc on this board and i've got a million other things I could do and watch.
The money aspect really has killed the game compared to what it once was and what with the top 6 now demanding more from the TV rights the game feels like it could be killed off as a professional sport unless you're in the elite.

It doesnt add up, the money has trivialised the game. If you cant beat them, join them - let Carroll go to Neverton, but make sure they pay through the nose for him. In no rush to sell him sp lets play hard to get... no doubt if we do this, 10 other clubs will jpin the race to sign him
