Football is not just a working mans game but a thinking mans game as well, have a look at this on Match of the Day on BBC i player, u will see Arthur spit at Nick Powell but look just before the grolley goes flying through the air Powell shouts something and I bet you anything it was a Racist comment, but Powell played us all by diverting his comment, winding him up and getting him a 6 match ban. I hope when this enquiry is started they find out Exactly what was said and that it is not all buried under the carpet, because racism carrys a lot longer ban and has become a very important issue in football, and I don't even think the ref see it, it was only on the say so of all the Wigan players , Hats off to them, because we were never going to get back into the game with 10 men don't get me wrong I do not condone Arthurs action BUT I can certainly see why he did it! if this is the case, it must be Ask yourself why else would he do it???? He knows that spitting is an instant ban. In the present scheme of things Masawaku would have been better giving him a Black eye (WHOOPS nothing meant) at least it would have meant a 3 match ban instead of 6. So before you take all these leads from the Media Ave a fink.
One good thing out of this G&S was at this match and I personally think that they Thought they could survive with buying a defender and an attacker and trying out the kids- ain't going to happen, we all were guilty of saying giving Martinez a chance and he Blew it big time, and a few of them showed they're not ready. With Hernandez and Sacko leaving G&S know that they have to put their hands in their pocket otherwise there little gold mine is going to find itslf in the Championship We need " good Strikers and 2 0r 3 decent loan deals, or we are going to struggle to stay up. The Palace match is absolutely crucial, and it only needs Swansea or West Brom to get a few results and we are right in the brown stuff. I will be f*ckink choked If we sign a load of shite this week because We have not been in this position before, where we have 11 players injured let's hope the board recognise this before it's too late. Hope Burke isnt injured as well otherwise that will be 12
How can you guess it was a racist comment? I'm sure if that were the case he would of said so and Moyes wouldn't be as damning of him! Masuaku has apologised on Twitter and knows he done wrong - no point has he mentioned a racial slur...
I think comments like this are half the problem. he says something so because masuako is black it must be 'racist'? whats more, you are actually defending spitting which is far worse than a 'comment' be it 'racist' or other.
Hmm, but you are confusing 'abusive comments' with racism. Ive been called many what you probably would term 'racist' remarks, believe me id rather have a few words thrown my way that a gob full of someones spit.
You are saying that wigan players (& there are coloured players in their team too!!) are covering it up??i find that hard to believe...Mas has apologised, which is a start, though he has a lot of bridges to build after his ban imo
Anyone who is a male hetro- sexual is nowadays is always accused of being sexist, racist, and homophobic. Quite frankly it's all gone far to far.a big yawn from me, it's all become very boring. Go and get something else to do in your lives and stop wasting it on the 80 per cent wasted accusations. Sometimes people just aren't. The guy has apologised, it's a good statement for me. I was as furious as anyone over this and wanted him out yesterday. Worst crime IMO in football, but I've calmed down now. He has to be squeaky clean now if he stays.
Rumours are a statutory 6 game ban by the FA and fined two weeks wages by Moyes. About right in my book plus he apologised today.
As for some of the suggestions racism made him do it hard to tell but the reaction was instant from Masuako and as we all know spitting is always given a 6 match ban at least.
Hope he learns from it otherwise next time West Ham will probably sack him.
I do not agree with spitting and if you read the article properly I wrote that i did not condone it but can understand why he did it and in his apology he said he did was on the spur of the moment. As for my "comment", its a free world with free opinions with free speech who r u dicksy Quality control??????????
but you say you don't condone it yet immediately say you understand why he did it. its like saying 'no offence' and then going on to offend. how can you understand why someone spits at someone? and why jump to the conclusion it was a racist remark when obviously if it were, Masuaku would be saying so? As for free world free opinions etc, who said you weren't allowed to give yours? I'm also allowed to give my views on your views, hence why its free opinions.
Why spit at someone? Racist remark or offensive remark if it's annoyed you that much just punch him! Or in Arthur's case be smart and just bide your time!
At the time i said he should never wear the shirt again, but hes been man enough to apologise with no excuses, has to serve a 6 match ban so hopefully he will learn from it!!weve all made mistakes in life
Sounds a genuine guy to me based on his apologies and what Moyes and the players have said. I'd give him a last chances. He made a big mistake and as long as he has learnt by this I'm ok with it, but he doesn't get another.

A few people who were at the game seem to think Masuaku was racially abused. Of course it was hearsay but something was 100% said before the incident.
