More Deja Vu About Carroll And More Spin From Sullivan

Hammers supporters really can be forgiven for the deja vu feeling they are having as 'news' of Andy Carroll's potential return from injury has 'snuck out' from the club, and around the same time David Sullivan has offered an 'olive leaf' to fans ahead of the March in March before the Burnley game at the 'Ironic' London Stadium. Andy Carroll has had more 'returns from injury' than a cat with nine lives, so his highly anticipated return for the last fortnight of the season will be viewed with a certain amount of scepticism! Meanwhile majority shareholder David Sullivan has come over all little cuddly teddy bear, a big old softy who just wants the best for everyone.......Aaah

Fast forward to the real world, Carroll's 'lazarus moment' is surely timed in order for the club to get him 'fit' and then flog him to who ever they can before the wind changes direction and he gets injured chasing dandelions or some other weird injury anomaly. Having played so few games in the last five years Carroll should have 'plenty in the tank' available, unfortunately for much of that time the tank was plenty full all right, but not with the correct fuel! The brutal truth is that Andy Carroll is NEVER going to be properly fit, the very nature and variety of his multiple injuries has ensured that he is never actually ever fully fit, because he manages to get injured so regularly his body is never able to recover and the sheer scope of his injuries would see him put down if he was a race horse!

A Leopard never changes it's spots, well they can actually but only when they are being attacked! You can see where this analogy is going already, David Sullivan is Old School he has done well for himself and along with his business partner David Gold has owned and made money from football clubs which in itself is not an easy task, just ask Sunderland owner Ellis Short about it, his club which is in danger of dropping down from the Championship to League One having only just been relegated from the Premier League is on the market now for £50 Million. At that price Ellis will have lost over £100 Million during his ownership and the fans still hate him! Sullivan on the other hand has prospered and continues to do so every day due to the profit he and the board make off their 'loan' to West Ham United, a loan that many fans thought would be paid off from the proceeds of selling the Boleyn Ground. This is one of the many issues the March in March campaigners would like explained, so to head them off in the pass the Hammers hierarchy has wheeled out their big guns in order to show that above all they are fans! Well if they really are the fans they attest to be perhaps they might like to try sitting in the seats that they sold on the promise of attending a Stadium fit for state of the art entertainment, they might be forgiven for thinking that they are sitting in a building site on account of all the scaffolding on view.

At the end of the day the reality is that fans can march and march, and protest, they can boycott the club but that only deprives them of supporting the team they have known all their lives,so what can be done? Essentially bugger all! The owners will not run away, why should they? A bit of discontent from the masses is all part and parcel of running a business empire, because that is what West Ham United and many other Premier League teams have become, a business. However most of the 'businesses' are relatively well run by owners who go out of the way to 'pretend' they care and periodically make token gestures, perhaps the Hammers hierarchy should just try and be as 'dishonestly' honest as all the rest of them instead of using tired old spin along with smoke and mirrors, the carnival has moved on!

The dye is set at the London Stadium, from a matchday point of view little will change until the club are able to purchase the Stadium outright, once that is achieved, and there is definite intent from the London Mayor to facilitate the deal in order that the stadium stops hemorrhaging tax payers money, fans could look forward to at least a part of the promise being fulfilled, and as we have championed before there is a possibility of 'digging down' on the site of the London Stadium in order to have a proper pitch with brilliant sight lines. Earlier fears that the ground was too toxic under the stadium to dig any deeper were encouraged by the Lord Coe "we want a legacy" mafia, they got their way and the public will be paying the price for the net hundred years unless a realistic redevelopment deal can be negotiated, at that point Messrs Gold & Sullivan will surely sell off a majority stake in the club and pocket a nice little earner.

One day West Ham United will be exactly that, a united football club, but don't hold your breath! - Ed

Loads of issues raised there Nev ,first of all about Carroll ,i dont think any other club in the world would tolerate a mess of this enormity 90 g for sitting on your arse fo 10 months ?where else would you get it ,secondly i have always had my doubts about his "injurys " i still say that liquor and coke are the main protagonists he should do the deasent thing and retire gracefully.
The dildo brothers ?what can you say ive always had a deep mistrust of millionaire business men ,the risk takers ,innovators, the captains of industry ,look at the employment they bring ,yeah minimum wage jobs with zero hour contracts while they languish on their yachts in the south of France ,these 2 bozos are no different ,your right Nev their goin nowhere ,not until theys sucked us dry .
Sometimes i wonder what its like to be a Sunderland fan ,i bet they never thought theyed end up here rock bottom, just shows you what can happen and be under no illusions the same can happen to us ,if we go south we're goin to have less than 20 thousand watching us in that white elephant, it will look bleedin pathetic and from there its a knock on effect the less success the less support its inevitable .
I really hope the march is a sucsess and that something good comes out of it otherwise it could be curtans .
I so hate to say it but didnt totalscum have the right idea ,knock the place and start again

Yeah 65 did you also hear she said she would do anything to please the fans, but when requested to give up her sun column stated emphatically she wouldn't do so in the next breath.

I agree 65. There seems a real contempt for the fan base from all thre of them! Sullivan was ill and gold didn't even know about the meeting (and then Brady saying almost immediately after saying she had been talking to gold about it that morning!) it really is just one lie after another.

were you contacted by this group, The Real West Ham to be part of the protest?

Is it worth contacting them? I think all views should be heard including those who are happy with the stadium, badge, stewarding etc etc. I feel that had the team performed well, as in the last season at UP, kept Payet, attracted more players such as Batshite, Lookcassett etc etc this march would never be happening, old skool fans would be completely behind the whole revolution and the Porn Twins would be content in their ivory tower.

If your happy with the new place so be it,but there are a lot of people who hate everything about the move...generations of my family have been more than happy to spend our saturdays at westham,i took my own children from the age of 4 & 5 they are now well into their twentys, but none of us is bothered about going anymore because everything now is so "Unwestham!!"...50 years of my life following this club & they have changed it so much its unrecognisable...yes we have to move on but it doesnt mean we have to accept it!!

It would be a big step if they would actually stop lying and be totally open about the things that have happened in the last 2 years and also going forward. Also how about respecting the fans and even the players and managers. A bit of professionalism wouldnt go a miss either. Every week there is some kinda drama painting the club in a negative way and I'm sick of it!

But i suppose the next line will be - youve got to give it at least 10 years to "have a feel for the place"... its gonna be too late by then imo

Dont really understand your question but if you look at my posts I think Im consistent. Im far from a Happy Hammer but Im always a Hammer! You can support the club and make criticisms but just stop looking back, look forward. The point is its moved on, some people dont like it and if they are that upset about it support another club or take up underwater basket weaving. We dont have the chance of supporting a team that plays at UP and our club has moved maybe a step too far for some folk with the LS, badge change etc BUT its still our club. I certainly have no intentions of changing loyalty, Im also in my 50's and have followed West Ham through Thin and Thin! .... COYI's!!!!!

Like ive always been..If the stadium was bought by us & converted for football (also safe standing areas, etc)i would be more than happy to go more, but at the end of your link above it says the conversion costs would cost roughly 300 mill & sugo are highly unlikely to foot the bill...so it could be a long, long time my friend before it happens!!
P.S Underwater basket weaving - i know im old but steady on mate!!

65... you are clearly top person, West Ham through and through... total respect. Im a lucky guy for many reasons which makes me a bit of an optimist, the glass is always half full not empty :o)

You are right, conversion costs are high but in the reality of prem football its not that bad. When we see the real profits published at WHU it will be obvious to see its an easy mortgage payment. Compare that to Spudz new groud which could be as high as 1Billion! :

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5139907/Bill-new-Totte...

I really think Mr Khan will want shot of the money losing millstone and it will be sold for a quid to WHU. Converting to a proper footie stadium at £300M will be a bargain! Even the Arse ground cost more at £390M! Keep the faith, COYIs!!!!

P.S. Underwater basket weaving - my mate, Brentford supporter and intellectual, says you can get a degree in the subject at The University of West London :o)

Which is why Tottenham f***ed with us so hard to make life miserable. Does anyone think they really wanted to move to Stratford? Would their fans have come across London? I seriously doubt it. The new stadium at WHL was almost certainly on the cards from the beginning. But the competition in the London football hierarchy is fierce, and Spurs saw that we COULD have become serious contenders with the move to a purpose built, big, new stadium very close to our old patch. There's still opportunity in it if we could buy the site outright, but it will take years, and in the meantime the gap widens. It wasn't that many years ago that we were competitive with Tottenham: 2007/08 we finished above them, and 2008/09 we finished on equal points (don't even think about where Citeh were in those two seasons!).

Yes it would be a great idea to buy it outright,im not convinced though sugo will stump up the cash!!remains to be seen & i will be the first to hold my hands up & say that i was wrong about them if they do!!

I watched a vidio they put out ,their agenda is a little shallow in that they were concerned for Kens cafe and the pie and eel shop loosing buisness ,like a lot of us their hatred for the Brady bunch knows no bounds ,there's a very sad bit in it where they visit the building site that was once the Boleyn ground and take a look in some geezer with a yellow coat trys to flog them a couple of seats from the stadium for a tener ,i think theres goin to be a row if and when they decide to take the statue which is only right ,its not theirs to take

During Mondays meeting the rwhfag asked Brady to put a statue up outside, to which she replied statues are expensive! They don't want to pay for anything on this re location! She's after the World Cup one for free!

I agree Burkie, as previously posted, personally I have little sympathy for the businesses in the area, for years they made good money from the Hammers punters and I didnt see them giving anything in return. The ground has gone, it wont be rebuilt time to move on.

Anyone one seen that you tube video made by Canning Town Len? Worth a look. I found it quite funny. Watched it about 10 times. Also a bit tragic the more you watch it. I typed in razzle dazzale. As in give them the old razzle dazzale.

The comments on here are so full of feeling, of memory, of loss, of broken promises. There's a heart and soul in West Ham United, but not in West Ham London, at least not right now. It really saddens me to read all this stuff, even though I didn't grow up in it. I can feel it in my father-in-law's eyes. Last year I visited the Black Lion in Plaistow, his old local, on a pilgrimage to his old neighbourhood. Most of the old pubs are gone, but the Black Lion was still there. Bobby Moore's Picture was still there. From the District Line station I could see those tall apartment blocks that I always used to see on telly overlooking Upton Park. I remember seeing people in them watching West Ham from out the window. What sort of view they had, I don't know but I fancy not much worse than people in the Ironic London Stadium. Things might have been different if the board were true to their word. The nostalgia would still be gone, the old days would still be gone, but at least there'd be hope. But it feels like West Ham United was sold out, and to look at what's happened to Birmingham, the board's previous club, it seems like SUGO and Brady will milk every last ounce of blood out of the old horse and then flog her off to the glue factory, where Andy Carroll seems to have spent most of his days.

Sound dismal? Focus on the present. There's Liverpool today. Nothing to lose. COYI
