Hammers Could Be Relegated By Phlegm

Authur Masuaku's six match ban for spitting at an opponent should have been the least of the club's worries, but if West Ham United continue their downward Premier League spiral Masuaku's dismissal will be increasingly significant, the club has embarked on a series of terrible results akin to the last days of Slaven Billic, it appears that Mauaku's massive influence on the team's fortunes was grossly under estimated when trying to fill his boots.

Masuaku was due to finish his ban after the Burnley game which is followed by a three week break due to the FA Cup and an International break for friendlies, however it is not entirely clear when he will make his come back as he will have been out of action for three months and will need game time to get up to speed. His importance when fit, as he usually is, has been illustrated by the current need for defenders, as they seem to be dropping like flies at the moment. The news that Sam Byram will be out for the rest of the season along with Winston Reid's season ending injury does not bode well for the club's survival fight, and in case fans were previously deluded that is exactly what is happening, a survival fight where all the fellow strugglers have been putting together impressive strings of results just as Hammers' have been going the opposite way.

If West Ham survive this season there will need to be wholesale and expensive changes to avoid another season of disappointment, interestingly it will be the first season since the move from the Boleyn Ground where 'economy' season ticket holders will be due to renew, as they were obligated to take out a two year ticket initially. This means fans really will be able to influence the board, there are many who are sceptical about the lengthy waiting list numbers claimed by Lady Brady, the exact details of which being eschewed by the hierarchy when requested.

The Burnley game will not decide relegation or not, but it will go a long way as to determining the club's future especially as Sky TV have done their very best to ensure that the matches will be difficult to attend for many due to the fact that they have changed the schedules for all of Hammers' matches in April.

The three week break following the Burnley game should give David Moyes the chance to gell his squad for the final push for survival, but that's what it will be, a final push! - Ed

Palace up 2-0 and then losing 3-2 at home. Not only did that stop Palace leapfrogging us in the table, it must have cut a devastating blow to their confidence. Not that they are going down, but for one more week we can breathe, barely.

I don't see us getting anything from the Burnley game. The lack of investment in the transfer window is really starting to show. It would serve Sullivan right for his team to be relegated, but I fear for the rest of us.

No I don't feel confident v Burnley. They are what we are not, hard to beat. In other news Sullivan says financially we are better off than ever before. Doesn't he mean HE is better off?

Even if he meant WHUFC are better off, the question is: will that make any difference when we are relegated? Why hasn't he made sure, through transfers like Carvalho and Dendocker (just to mention 2), that we are not in a relegation battle????

Burnley are a team that battles, passionate and dogged to the final whistle, something that we are not,it seems to have been left at the Boleyn,as since we have been at Stratford we have had none of these match winning traits, anyone that wants to come and take us on,or willing to give it a go we walk all over us.Shrewsbury very nearly did took us all the way, then Wigan came and showed them and us how its done.
Im wondering if Sugo and Co have enough money to take us forward,as I have wrote before, being a millionaire football club owner now isn't enough, all the top clubs have billionaire owners, and call the tune, from what happens on the pitch right down to operating the ground, which is something we cant do,as someone may,at anytime want to have a jog round the touchline,or throw a javeline across the goal mouth.

We have faced many so called "last chance" games but now I think that we have arrived at the last "last chance". The match on Saturday against Burnley is now critical for our survival in the Premiership, a loss will confirm to all our fellow strugglers that we are a gutless bunch of tossers resigned to our fate! I watched Burnley play Everton and have to admit that although they are on paper less talented than our supposedly superior squad, however we play on grass not paper, they are a strong fit squad playing to the limit of their abilities, play for each other and never give up. Why we have so many lows, lack of effort and incomprehensable loss of form is a mystery to me. If we lose on Saturday and I cannot second guess the result, it would seem that the two "West" teams are both going west to the Chumps league!

The table doesn't lie. They are playing like we did a couple of seasons ago, with passion and intensity and willing to give every match a go, not afraid of any team or any situation. How we have fallen from that place I don't know. Was it just the loss of Payet? We were supposed to be an ambitious club and going to make a marquee signing -- Lacazette, Batshuayi, or even that Italian goal machine whose name I can't remember. I think it was right then that Sully showed he wasn't going to put his money where his mouth is. He didn't just bottle it, he tried the same old sob song about working so hard to get the transfer but (sadly) just finishing short. Well he is about to finish short in the biggest race of all.

I'm sorry to say I just can't see us getting anything from the Burnley match. It will be just like facing a top four side, and we now have Reid and Byram out for the season (not that they were playing particularly well anyway). The sad reading in "Relegated by Phlegm" just shows how far we have fallen, from a season in which fans sang "We've got Payet!" (with such gusto!) to a season where all we can say is, "We don't even have Masuaku because he spit on another player."

Whatever individual pride Arnautovic, Lanzini, Hernandez, et al. have left, I hope it's on display Saturday, but I fear another drubbing.

Yes, it's possible, Dicksy. First goal is important, and better for us if we score quickly. I think Antonio has made a case for starting -- can't believe if he doesn't. Hernandez seems to have gone off boil. If we had all three of Hernandes, Antonio and Arnautovic up front, AND a midfield that could get them the ball, I'd be confident of us scoring at least ONE! As it is, I'm nervous.

Burkie 1

we always seem to concede a goal in the first 15 minutes and always have to play catch up ,so yes agood start is needed but we also seem to get caught out down the wings give away a free kick and bang the balls in our net !!!!!
