Lanzini's Heartache Is West Ham United's Headache

The devastating news regarding Manuel Lanzini's injury has had a marked effect on the Argentine football squad, particularly the 'little jewel's' mentor Lionel Messi. Lady luck can be cruel and in Lanzini's case extremely so, while the super stars of his home country commiserate, his new manager Manuel Pellegrini and hordes of Hammers fans around the World will have been left shell shocked by the loss of the club's most creative player that most assumed the team would have been built around.

The problem with 'putting all your eggs in one basket' is that you need to have a fresh batch of eggs available should the worst happen, replacing Lanzini would be even more of a problem if it wasn't for the fact that there is a ready made replacement known to the club available in the form of Joao Mario. 'Super' Mario is not a like for like player compared to Lanzini, but he is damn near close and at £25 Million represents good value in an over inflated market, his value will only go up during the World Cup, and it would seem that now is the time to sign him up, he is young and will have a decent sell on value.

There is however no denying Lanzini's injury has wrecked Hammers' pre planned transfer activity, his loss is huge and there is no way of dressing it up, ironically club captain Mark Noble will inadvertantly benefit form 'Mannu's' injury as his starting place would have been in danger if Mannu had stayed fit and one other 'marquee' midfielder had arrived as was planned. Manuel Pellegrini is rumoured to have cut short his planned holiday in order to oversee player recruitment. All in all it has not been a good fortnight for the 'Pilgrim', muggers and mayhem in Chile, the loss of his best player before he even kicks a ball and the prospect of having to pry open David Sullivan's wallet, they don't call Mr Sullivan 'snatcher' for nothing do they?

We wonder if the nice Mr Pellegrini has a buy out clause in his contract, for him to leave if he cannot unravel a mess that just seems to be getting worse, we will know soon enough! - Ed

Should start to see what is really happening with the club regarding possible transfers...with El pel and Sullivan off to spain no doubt to discuss what to do now Lanzini is out for the season...now Mario who did not convince me personally I have to say but available for £25million having been at the club and knowing the players it would not be that big of a risk but I did like the look of Maddison at Norwich last season and he is also available for the same sum as Mario so what to do? bite the bullet get wilshire in on a free and get the lad Maddison in who can learn alongside him or have Mario promote some of the youth and spend the rest defence and gk?...we shall soon see and El pel will soon learn the ways of the sugo...say one thing but mean something totally different..yes its that time of year for smoke and mirrors folks

A £16m bid for two Swansea players is typical of Sullivan when we all know about £30m in total would probably do it for their goalkeeper and the youngster Mawson who only cost Swansea £5m in 2016. Yet another protracted deal that will be played out until someone else comes in and snaps up Mawson and we end up with only the goalkeeper probably as cover for Adrian.
With Lanzini out until December/January (6 months for his injury to heal at least) it also looks like Arnie will be on his way to finance a decent midfielder now. Pelligrini has cut his holiday short and is coming back to sort out who he now wants and try and keep Arnie...............good luck with that one!
Even at this very early stage it does look like Sullivan still has his head in the bargain basement looking for freebies and trying to get players on the cheap from the three relegated clubs, rather than go out for quality!!!
Hope I am very wrong but yet another stressful season with us in the bottom half looks likely if Pelligrini is ignored as Sullivan goes after the cheapest.

Move on! Its happened, big shame but life goes on. We had to face the music when Payet left, do the same but this time we have a complete transfer window to work with so use the time wisely!

Jaysus your an optimist Dartford ,is that what you want then a strugle tostay up year after year,to compare Arnie leaving with Payet is not comparable ,Payet was despised at the end of his time with us ,sure he was a superb player and capable of some wonderfull scores and some great assists where as Arnie almost single handed kept us up ,mark my words if Arnie goes it will be a total disaster for us especially moral wise

You have lost me. I want to support a team that struggles year after year???? No, but having said that I support West Ham through thin and thin. The connection with Arnie? Not sure where you got that one. I was referring to Manny. Great player but will never be the same after this injury. The point was we often lose great match winning players (Tevez, Defoe, Payet etc etc) but you move on. Football is a business and the transfer window is open so the porn twins can react. On the subject of losing Arnie, if 60M is tabled the clowns in charge will not be interested in morale or moral.

Short of a miracle, Manu's career is over. It's extremely sad. And yes, we must move on. There's a big spanner in the transfer works now, though -- Pel has to scrap at least one idea of who he wanted to create a balanced and competitive team. We need quality defenders; probably two but at best we'll now only get one. We need midfielders -- and even with Lanzini I thought we needed two: a creative and a holding midfielder. Now? At best one. We need at least one goalkeeper if only to replace Hart, but Adrian is talking about a possible return to Betis, so ... What really scares me is that Sullivan will be thinking that the way to finance all of this is to sell Arnautovic. And I'm certain that if Manure offer £60M, Sullivan will snap it up. And we know they have that kind of money.

We are supposed to be about to announce fabianski. As for arnie I don't think he will end up at Man U tbh. I'm not convinced mourinho wants him. I'd say it's just hot air.

He now has 3 weeks of rehab in Barcelona before heading home to West Ham to continue his treatment. Whilst there's no date set for his return hopefully we can differentiate this phrase from when it's used for AC where it generally means he'll come back probably but will get injured again pretty quickly!!!
Still a long road ahead for Manu but there is light at the end of the tunnel

Just been reading that poor Lanzinis injury is even worse with other ligament damage and he could be out for 15months and it could well be a career ending injury...yet again west ham lose one of our best players to a major injury whilst on international duty.
