Where There's A Will There's A Way Sheer-Delight As Jack Joins

Having completed what has been described as 'one of the most comprehensive medicals ever seen for a footballer', Jack Wilshere will finally be unveiled as a West Ham United player today. The paper work has been completed and the promo video has already been filmed, the official confirmation had been delayed until monday in order to maximise publicity as it was thought that the news would get lost due to a certain football match involving England!

As has been widely mentioned, Wilshere's signing was effectively rubber stamped as soon as Manuel Lanzini picked up his nasty injury, although not disimilar both players could function together when Lanzini does eventually return, in fact having Wilshere in the squad might enable Lanzini to have a full recovery and not be rushed back too soon as has often been the case in the past with important players. As Wilshere's Arsenal contract had expired, no fee was involved which, so long as the old Hammers new signing injury curse doesn't strike, represents great value even at £100,000 per week for three years.

Essentially with a bit of ducking and diving West Ham have acquired Jack Wilshere and Ryan Fredericks without any up front payment, not only do the deals represent gret value but they also increase the 'British' content of the squad which will be most useful in order to comply with the 'home grown player' ratio that all Barclays Premier League clubs must adhere to. The 'home grown' factor is very important because the next additions to the squad will use up a lot of the overseas quota!

Finally West Ham are closing in on a club record £40 Million deal for Felipe Anderson, negotiations with Lazio have been fractious to say the least but it seems as if the deal is finally going to happen. Many fans were of the opinion that Lazio were taking the rise out of West Ham because of the way they kept moving the goal posts, but there are probably a lot more reasons why the deal has proved so difficult to get over the line, namely the payment structure, apparnetly Lazio kept raising the price to offset Hammers' plans to pay the fee in three instalments, a business practice that is commonly used and one that West Ham have exploited in the past.

With Ryan Fredericks, Issa Diop and Lukasz Fabianski having already arrived at the London Stadium the addition of Anderson will really show how Pellegrini wants his team to shape up, deals for Fabian Balbuena and Andriy Yarmolenko are also in the pipeline. Central defender Balbuena is set to arrive from Corinthians after they confirmed a fee which is reported to be £3.5 Million had been agreed with West Ham and Borussia Dortmund winger Yarmolenko is due to arrive in London for his medical. Yarmolenko only joined Dortmund a year ago for a fee of £23 Million from Dynamo Kiev but they are willing to let him go and their sporting director, Michael Zorc, confirmed late on Sunday that West Ham were in talks over a deal.

So far West Ham have only released James Collins, Patrice Evra and Joe Hart from the senior squad, although Reece Burke is said to be interesting both Hull City and Derby County, apparently a deal was in place for the youngster to join Hull but Derby under the management of Frank Lampard are attempting to hijack the deal. Still the numbers are not adding up though, who else will be shown the door? Interesting times ahead - Ed
PS: The name on the back of Jack's shirt when he was a youngster? None other than the 'mad monk' John Moncur!

I think Wilshire is a great signing. A younger and better version of Noble. It looks like all the monies in the piggy bank saved by Gold & Sullivan has had a hammer taken too it and smashed open. Fredericks, Diop & Fabianski in. Wilshire, Yarmelenko & Balbuena almost done deals and now Anderson looks like it will happen? Have the Dildo boys had too much sun?

How good a signing wheelchair is but whenever you hear ex players and managers talk they all cant believe the gooners let him go and on a free...every last one of them rate him as a player of not just prem quality but of the highest quality so maybe just maybe this is the deal of the summer.....as for the driscolls well its about time they put there hands in the till and gave back to the fans after taking so much from us.

its all sounding good. are the board finally getting it done? I'm guessing Pellegrini forced them to act this time by making the demands before signing. my one worry is this talk about selling Antonio, why would we do that? the man is a beast.

I agree,i cannot understand any talk of getting rid of him,hes as strong as an ox,and has a lot of pace also.

I agree. Talk of 15 million. Now I know any player is only worth what someone else will pay, but it is going to take much more than 15M to get in a player with his pace and ability both in the air and on the ground, he is two forted as well. I think it would be better business to hold on to him.

Don't agree dicksy ,I've long been of the opinion that he's either a injury liability or there's something wrong with his ability to maintain his fitness

Doesnt seem to be the same player as he was when he first came, possibly the luxurious lifestyle signing a new,big contract might have played a part!!

but why do we always judge a player on his poor performances? don't you remember those great games he had when he was fully fit, rampaging up and down the field, scoring goals? i don't believe in getting rid of players when they have shown what they are capable of. he needs to get fit, find confidence and be played in the right position. this was a guy knocking on england's door.

Obviously a wilshere on song is a no brained. Plus he plays a lot more than Carroll over the last 2 season. (Not saying a lot tho) I'd say he is originally bought to fill in for.lanzini. That will give him a good run to seize his chance. I just got a feeling Jack didn't/or doesn't look after himself like Carroll. Maybe that's changed as he got older? What these players need to realise is they want the trappings of a long and successful career they just HAVE to make those sacrifices because they can't do both.

Surely we could get rid of players we won't be needing. Byram, kouyate, Reid Carroll snodgrass. We should get more than 15 for players we won't be needing. Even saying that, surely we needed a bigger squad anyway.

I don't think SUGO have spent so much yet that they need to sell Antonio, and that's the only reason I'd be even considering letting him go. We all know that West Ham need depth, so even if the Ukranian is supposed to start where Antonio was, we could use a substitute with quality. Heaven knows that both of them have been injured enough. On his day, Antonio is a game changer. With him we will do reasonably well on a regular basis against the bottom half of the league. And that would keep us out of trouble.

I agree that Wilshere will be a great servant of the club. He has the pace and mobility to trouble defenders. Maybe West Ham will be the new Arsenal kind of team with Mario set to join as well. But who is this Durham geezer??

He is slamming Wilshere for joining West Ham. Maybe he is a Spuds supporter.

I really want us to hold on to him, at least this season. He seemed to me to be finally integrating into an attack that showed promise.
