Realistically Jordan Hugill was never going to fit the Pellegrini player template, it is not his fault that Hammers stumped up an eye watering £10 Million in January for him as a 'failsafe' in case of the club being relegated to the Championship, that wasn't eventually the case and Hugill consequently spent less than an hour playing in the Barclays Premier League.

Surplus to requirements Hugill has been given the chance to play for his home town club Middlesbrough in the Championship who have signed the striker on a season long loan deal, the 26 year old only managed three substitute appearances for West Ham since moving to London Stadium from Preston North End where he had previously scored 30 goals in 114 appearances during three and a half years, he began his career in non league before joining Port Vale in 2013 ahead of his move to Deepdale.

The move benefits all parties, Boro get a player who they can afford to pay for and Hammers get to offset his wages, more importantly Hugill will actually do what he is supposed to do and that is play football, irrespective of the level! The more he plays the more West Ham can hope to claw back from their initial outlay next season.

In a way it is a timely reminder of how close the club came from staring in to the abyss that is the Championship, good luck to Jordan, he did no wrong he just wasn't allowed to do anything! - Ed
