A nice blend of old and new. Sorry to see Adrian dropped but I'm looking forward to Antonio stamping his place in the starting eleven.

First game of a new season, if we don't win then let's scare the shite out of them.

The front three look useful but they are living on scraps. That second goal was a killer. Wilshire hasn't done much in the midfield

Not expecting anything out of this now but lets see what Pellegrini is made of and shake the team up for second half....impressed with Anderson and Fabianski but pretty neutral on the rest so far

3 years under Klopp, surely you would expect progress. We've had 3yrs under Sam, Bilic and Moyes. Patience is the key here I think.

Their different class because to a man they are better individually they are we ,there has to be differentials other wise no one would win the leauge , we'd all be the same ,I always judge it like in the days when manua won every thing they seemed to have 14 men on the pitch

Yer sure ,but this is where sycology takes a hand ,West Ham yesterday with the exception of a few must have been shittin themselves , especially after that fuker Salla scored first ,I know what your goin to say dicksy my man ,"their professional footballers on flipin good money ,they should have a idea what to expect ", but when you go over to the bad place it's hard to get out ,a good example of what I'm on about is the transfer market ,our record signing of 40 million would be a minimum signing on fee to these wealthy bastards

The modern game is all about money, weve spent 100 mill on 8 players, sorry but its nothing... yes credit to the board for at last spending some dosh but its chicken feed compared to the top 6...thats why imo the game has lost its way, especially to joe bloggs in the street, personally i havnt had the same feeling for the game since its turned into a money making business...one game in & ive pretty much lost interest already!!

Lets not get disapointed about this, the scousers are a established team,we are trying to find our best,it will improve im sure,we couldnt have got a harder start, they are second favourites for the league

The midfield were overrun in the first half with both Noble and Rice drawn out of position. Would have preferred Rice to stay on and Noble withdrawn as pace mattered and Noble was out of his depths there. Based on his influence in the second half I think Yarmalenko should have started as West Ham pushed further up once he came on. But no doubt the third goal was a killer, thanks to that inept assistant. That's where the video replay made the difference in the World Cup. Well West Ham starts the season at the bottom of the table, and can only get better!!

I'm not overly surprised by the overall performance. We've played worse and won.
Seriously though, it's going to take time for us to get going this season. Now we can all see the standard of the very best teams, that is what we must aspire to.
We'll be okay come May, no worries. Keep calm, get behind our team, be proud.

Pellegrini as I said has a lot of work on his hands. The defence for example should keep their eyes on the players and not ball watching and then expecting offside calls. That second goal that was conceded was really crucial. Pellegrini will be judged whether he manages to blend this squad together as we should go back to three season ago, when Bilic took the existing squad along with a couple of marquee signings and roasted Liverpool at Anfield and Upton Park. That was Klopp relative flop of a first season in charge. But he really moved them to great new heights there on. Can Pellegrini manage to blend these new players to the same level? Time will tell and I was concerned when I watched the preseason matches as the Hammers have a long way to go. Arnautovic's performance was similar to that of his opening few games and hopefully he can turn that around as he had nothing but a few scraps, although he should have done better to restore West Ham on level terms. The best chance fell for Antonio who skyed it from a foot outside the goal line. He could have controlled it for a tap in.

It came at him very quickly tif. Having said that if he'd squared it Rocky Balbuena would have had a tap in. Love Antonio, but he's a bit hit and miss, literally.

Absolutely floored us. Agree with your appraisal.
On a positive note, I did see a few green shoots of better ball retention in the first half. Only fleeting glimpses mind. Better will come.

Apparently the PL want to wait until glitches have been sorted out by other leagues using first.

Scudamore was worried that the top 6 might not get the run of the green as often so wanted to delay it a bit more to ensure the status quo did not change!! Good enough for all of Europe's other top leagues too. Says it all!

Scudamore and the big 6 chairmen are trying to ensure that they still get more than their fair share of dives, handballs agst and offsides without compromising the system. Taking longer than expected. Can you imagine the press and Liverpool owners having missed out on the 3rd goal. Could have ruined their whole campaign!

Too early to judge. Relatively, new squad and lessons have to be learnt. BTW Bilic hammered Liverpool three times in his first season including the League Cup. So not so hopeless in his first season for a respectful 7th place finish. But then unrest from the likes of Payet plus a move to the new London stadium disrupted that 2nd season of his.

People conveniently forget how good slavs first season was then having to deal with the unrest of the move & payets strops...But in the same breath will keep trying to tell us how wonderfull Allardyce was & that pellegrini (before a ball has been kicked!!)is our best ever manager....Comical

i hate losing to Liverpool half my family live up there and all have season tickets they invite me up to watch them play us and rub my face in the proverbial s##t when they win so i stopped going about 4-5 years ago ,we always seem to lose by 4 goals to them .I was hoping for a better display especially with 5 new players in the team but no, same old result and now that we are bottom the only way is up .as I've learnt over 45yrs of supporting west ham patients is a virtual so c.o.y.i lets get it together

We will not be the last team to get a good humping at Anfield this season. Deja Vu from the opening fixture last season. We now have more quality and strength in depth to last season. We just need time to gel as a team. We could quite easily do the same to Bournemouth next week which is more important as teams like them are teams we will be competing with. Onwards and upwards.

This Sunday on Sky Sports (sorry this 'Super Sunday' on Sky Sports), all the lead up bollocks to the two games was all about Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City. Well done Sky Sports for your constant refusal to believe that there are other teams that also play in the Premier League. I pay good hard-earned money to pay for this service. You twats.
