Hammers Must Avoid Simmering Rice Situation From Boiling Over

Hammers fans have known all about Declan Rice and his massive potential for ages, but now the news media scrum have suddenly opened their eyes to the potential that was clearly there to see for some considerable time. Unfortunately all this attention comes at a time in the young man's life when his services are at the centre of an 'International squabble' between The Republic of Ireland and England and also amid renewed contract negotiations between the player's agents and the club with regards to improved terms to his contract that still has a little under two years to run if the club take up their options.

Maybe it is because it has been a relatively quiet 'news' week, but the clamour for all things Declan Rice has been astonishing, whether by the BBC or a host of other espected news outlets, it is indeed fortunate that he has a strong family support mechanism behind him and is extremely unlikely to do a 'Reece oxford' having been presented with the chance to move on and become a West Ham legend and possibly future captain in waiting.

There is plenty of time to negotiate a mutually convenient negotiation between Rice and the club regarding his future, some of the figures being banded around are incorrect and poorly researched by certain Journalists and others. Declan Rice is defintely not on £3,000 per week, Leo Chambers, now playing for Billericay was on that wage four years ago!

Everyone loves 'one of their own' to do well, how do Chelsea fans feel about 'The One That Got Away'. - Ed

I think there is the normal media hype, searching for a story / issue.

I also think Rice is good, shows a lot of promise but its still only potential. He is not the finished article, performances for a young guy against Everton and Chavski were top draw. I think we need to look at him after another say 20 games under his belt. He's no Rio at this stage and I think turning his back on the Republic may prove an unwise move... but I would say that wouldnt I :o)

I think there hasn't been a prospect like Rice for yonks , there's nothing more the media would like than to see him leave West Ham ,in there eyes we're only a fart arse little club in the East end and they would love to see him take his place in their darling buds clubs ,manc s ,Pooh ,arse and them fukers from shite fart lane ,they see him as a future England captain , unfortunately it's his agents that are forcing the issue , according to reports they want 12 grand a week instead of 3 ,must say if those figures are for real then I wouldn't blame him for walkin

How can you expect to get away with paying a talent like him this type of money and pay Oxford £20,000 How can this be??? pay him his his 30 grand, at the the end of this season that could easily be £50,000. Cahill could be leaving Chelsea they could come along sign one of their ex Chelsea players and would be more than happy to double this in January and paying him £60,000 stop taking the piss and pay the lad -Our next captain!

Moving Rice away from CB is the best thing that has happened to him. Never understood the hype about him last year, he was a liability at CB, two own goals and a beautiful duck that made Hart look even more stupid than he already was. He is showing much better promise as a defensive midfielder, still a few wobbles but not in a position to be such a catastrophe as last season. He should stay with the R of I because I can't see him getting in the England team at present and should concentrate more on playing regular Premier League football.

Does annoy me when they are dithering on a payrise for one for our future and you have the likes of carroll, lounging around steeling 90 grand a week,26 goals in 5 years, can't wait for another 6 year contract.

Call me old-fashioned but almost everything in the news nowadays is either fake or over exaggerated!!If sugo have any
sense at all (& I do wonder sometimes!!) they would have already put in place plans for a long term deal for Rice,if not a severe backlash is on the cards...
