Sometimes It's Not Good To Talk Marky

Unless you have been unable to see any Barclays Premier League football this season, it would be impossible not to be impressed with the league's runaway leaders style of play. They arrived at the London Stadium and simply took West Ham apart, ironically Hammers did't play poorly they were just blown away! Little more than a Manchester City victory could be envisaged even by the most devoted and hard core of fans ahead of the match, but did they have to have it handed to them on a plate?

Ahead of the game Hammers captain Mark Noble described City as 'scary' in his Evening Standard column, he then proceeded to essentially say that there was hardly any point in trying to compete with such a superior team and that the fixtures after the match were winnable so it was best just to take the beating and look forward to the forthcoming fixtures against lower opposition. On the one hand the captain's honesty should be applauded, however there are those who believe the admission of an impending loss before a ball had even been kicked smacked of defeatism in the extreme!

What on earth was Noble doing? Fresh from his needless three match ban, his 'proclomation' did little to engender any form of hope to players and fans alike. There is an adage when it comes to 'press' releases ahead of important matches, and that is to keep your mouth shut unless you have something of note to say, sometimes less is more and in this instance the message to Mr West Ham should be: "Sometimes It's Not Good To Talk Marky". The negativity of the pre-match comments were further exasperated at the London Stadium by the fact that Mark Noble was on the bench and not even in the starting line up, in the end he didn't even come on as a substitute.

Next week sees a journey 'oop' North to face Newcastle, where Benitez and Pellgrini, both ex-Real Madrid managers, will lock horns in the 'bargain basement' of the league. Hammers have nothing to be complacent about as yet so hopefully the team can play with a bit of freedom, and of course as it's pantomine season Big Andy Carroll will be available to face the club that sold him to Liverpool for £35 Million. The bookies have already stopped taking bets on how long he will last before picking up his usual pre-christmas long term injury.

Hammers have eight decent fixtures to follow, perhaps a little more thought might go in to the pre-match publicity in order to avoid the sort of unnecessary issues that lose talk can cause. -Ed

Lookat in every sport there is always cream that rises to the top ,boxing ,rugby even golf ,its just the way it is ,when man u were at their best it lasted ni on 20 years ,boxing ,the beautiful middle weights of the eights and ninetys golf Nicklas, tiger ,rugby the All Blacks,(well until they visited Dublin last Saturday night ),so stop beating yourselves up over man city ,we did our best ,with the exception of a couple ,to take the game to them and we can't do any more ,their just a vastly superior team to anything this league has seen in years

That was the point, if you transfer the situation to a 'street' idiom, you are about to get 'bounced' by some nasty types as you are walking home, do you lay down and die or do you look at them as if to say "come on you mother fuckers, I will eat your spleen!"? You hit the 'Biggun' first and more likely than not the others will run! I am a pacifist but I am not a mug, Noble should have not even mentioned City and their 'scary' squad instead concentrating on what
his' team have done in the past and will continue to do so in the future. It wasn't even Halloween!

There is no disgrace in losing to a top team like Man City packed with some world beating players in top national side but... Its the manner of the beating that is hard to take. We rolled over and asked them can we tickle your tummy? For two of the goals we gave them enough time to peel a banana, mash it and make a sandwich before knocking it over the line. For the last goal what the hell was Creswell doing... he was on the line and still managed to not to save it... and thats just it, no heart, dont care just surrender.

Apparently Ci££y are considering building a training base in London to have a second home when they travel down South. Senior figures believe they would gain an extra edge by staying in their own camp rather than hotels when they play away.don't they all ready have one called the london stadium;)

Never mind about losing to City,i didn't think we played bad, they were always going to be a bit too slick for us,but I haven't got over losing to them North London lot, twice in 10 days in our own back yard.

There are four winnable games on the horizon but we can't think the points are in the bag, we still have to put in the hard work and make sure we don't drop points to fellow strugglers . Too often it has been the West Ham way to gift a relegation candidate a lifeline.
