Rumours that West Ham United were going to start the new Barclays Premier League season with an a away match at Watford due to some creative photoshopping of a supposed fixture list, have been firmly dispelled with the news that the Irons have been handed the poisoned chalice of a home game to start the season, against Manchester City at 12:30 on Saturday the 10th of August!

It seems the footballing gods still have issues to resolve with West Ham United, last season's opening fixtures were about as hard as it could get, especially for a team with a new manager with a totally different concept of how he likes his football played, and with at least half a new team to bed in straight away.

At least the following fixtures in August are slightly kinder, with away visits to Brighton and the Watford followed by a home game against newly promoted Norwich. September starts with an away visit to another newly promoted team in the form of Aston Villa, followed by a home game against Manchester united and then an away visit to Bournemouth to round off the month.

A full fixture list to follow.... - Ed
