Hammers Working On Hernandez Exit To Bring In Young Player

The huge sums of money in wages and transfer fees associated with players involved in the Barclays Premier League sometimes lead to 'pound blindness', at least in England. West Ham have recruited wisely, as they did last season, but there is one bit of business that pure logic dictates that the club have to do, and that is sell Javier Hernadez.

Many will argue that he is a top striker who wasn't given the rub of the green when it comes to first team selection, but the guy is on £140,000 per week! That pay packet is pretty good for a 'super sub', but can Hammers really afford such a luxury? If you take your claret and blue specs, off the answer is most definitely no, the situation is further compounded because 'Chicharito' is entering the final year of his contract and can therefore leave on a Bosman free at the end of next season.

The issue with trying to do the business of moving Hernandez on is that his wages are so ludicrously high few clubs apart from the elite can afford him, if you do the basic maths the figures are quite alarming. If Hammers retain Hernandez, as Manuel Pellegrini has stated he wants, but with a wry smile as he said it, it will cost the club just over £7 Million in wages alone, and there is obviously no fee received for a player when their contract expires, so even if he had been sold for just £5 Million the club, by retaining him will lose at least £12 Million for one season of his services!

The only other viable option is, if a buyer cannot be found now, to wait until the January transfer window and sell Hernandez to a club who are really desperate, Hammers cannot afford to be as profligate as top tier clubs can with their finances, as Ed Jnr said in his Instagram account. : " Bounce him now". Do you agree? - Ed

His goal scoring record cannot be questioned but he needs a fellow striker to feed off to be effective and El Pel does not play that way and Chicarito cannot lead the line so yes sell him but we must have some kind of plan to replace him because as i have mentioned in other posts i am worried about how weak we are in that position one injury could see us struggling to score.

Great goal poacher ,just think Westham never made the best use of his qualities .Selling has got to be justified now based on all what Nev highlighted ,should get £8-10m .On the downward side of his peak now but still much to offer and I'm sure would have no problem selling. One man West Ham have on their radar is said to be controversial Rangers forward Morelos, his disciplinary issues like Mario Balotelli's are too high a price to even consider. But I'm sure Pellegrini already has some serious options to pursue when the time is right

I don't think he has offered us anything and at times has looked incredibly lazy, he is a luxury player we can't afford to have. Whilst I think we need another striker I can see goals coming from all over the pitch this season as we have some incredible options in advanced midfield areas. It wasn't that long ago top clubs were playing the false #9 with no actual strikers and that was incredibly effective and I wouldn't put us in that caliber of club to do that but it does show if you have the right players goals will come and in Anderson, Lanzini, Fornals, Antonio & Yarmalenko we do have that. I think Rice & Wilshere may wade in with a few each too. As it stands as attacking options I think Pelle views Antonio now as a back up striker so we have Haller, Chich, Antonio & young Silva (if he gets better in time) so given that array of attacking ability I would sell Chich and get in (or at least try to) a quality youngster like the lad from France Alexis Claude-Maurice.

On far too much money, I read over 120k a week basic salary. He isn't even a proper striker I would try him out on the wings or just behind the striker as he needs time and space to finish. Maybe attacking CM would be a better role for him now he is getting older, for a lone striker role he isn't fast enough to get forward and seems to panic when he gets the ball he isn't clinical enough. I think he's seen better days now we should sell while we can get some money for him.

If he spent less time at the hairdressers and more time practicing shots at goal, from all angles and outside the 6 yard box, he might turn into a decent 50k/week player instead of a headless chook who is always in the wrong place when play is going forward. I still want to see what Silva can do, when he recovers from his mystery (?) illness.

IS the £140,000 a week, My old uncle used to say " Don't blow it about it gets in everyone's eyes". Now when Haller Fornalls and Lanzinni see this they are thinking I will have some of that I'm sticking more goals in than Chico and I'm only on half the wages. They will not be interested in he was only bought for £16 million pounds all they see is the end product, i think this was part of the Anautovic problem, Greed.
This is yet another poor contract from WHU and if Chiko doesn't go I can see all this happening yet again. How can you have Haller on £80,000 and Hernandes on £140,000 the wage structuring is all wrong at the end of the day, footballers go to work for one thing, DOSH, so Chico has to go, especially on 7 million a year think of the money WHU are saving, plus getting their wage structure right, but to be honest I don't rate Hernandes that much, so its not just the money, its just that he can't play on his own upfront not good enough and we can do better.
