Rice Criticism Unwarranted

Declan Rice appears to have been made the 'fall guy' for England's insipid performance against the Czech Republic, he has been picked on particularly by certain sections of the media, but he wasn't entirely alone when it comes to the overall team performance. Rice is a young player learning to get better, whereas there were other senior players who just didn't step up to the plate.

The unwarranted criticism that Declan Rice has received won't break him, if anything it will make him even more determined to improve and to prove the doubters wrong. Perhaps Declan might regret doing the 'tv' slot about him and his best pal Mason Mount ahead of the England game, too much media exposure has a habit of 'biting back' which is not helpful.

The youngster will learn to keep his own counsel more, it is all part of the process of becoming a 'top' professional, he has done nothing wrong except to have played in a fixture that didn't work out. As the old expression goes, if it don't break you, it will help make you! Declan will bounce back, and it is highly unlikely his confidence will suffer even if the Roy Keane's of this world want to 'dig him out', he is made of sterner stuff.

Realistically most Hammers fans just want Rice to return uninjured from International duty and pick up where he left off for the club, the England stuff is virtually irrelevant unless the negativity is whipped up by the press. Even the great Sir Bobby Moore had the odd crap game with the three lions. - Ed

Rice is not the finished article yet. Hes young and learning particularly what his role is and what is expected of him at both domestic and international level. Hes a natural centre back playing the defensive midfield role which is very difficult. You need a good engine, tenacity and timing to make interceptions and tackles avoiding yellow cards... not easy!

When Rice is the finished article hewill still have bad games it happens we will still qualify and end up top. Could not pick out any player that shone out and I am hoping for a lot better against Bulgaria. This is a very young side but you saw the finished article in Henderson although hehad a better 2nd half and he was no better than rice, it looked like none of em wanted to be there, no passion no running, when throw-ins were being taken no one was moving, thought that they just had to turn all staying still, couldn't be bothered. Just got to put it down to a bad day at the office. Come on you Lions. ( And I dont mean the other lot)

Why can't anybody see that Jordan Henderson can't pass and that Danny Rose shouldn't be wearing an England shirt.
