Andy Capps It All Off!

Those Hammers fans of a certain age will remember that before the internet and Sky the only news source for sports was the back page of newspapers, in those papers there were cartoons. One of the most popular and least reverent was Andy Capp, everything used to end up with either him having a scrap in the pub or him being 'taken out' from the pub by his long suffering wife....Fast forward to a time when social media is prevalent and invasive, no longer can things just be swept under the carpet, people aren't interested in cartoons when they have their own pantomimes choreographed in front of them by players of their football team. So, the latest pictures of Andy Carroll looking to all and sundry as if he had been doing some hard partying in Magaluf last weekend will be quite shocking but will come as no surprise, he is missing from the first team squad in Germany as they prepare for the start of the new season but was supposed to have been 'rehabilitating' from his 'injury'. Perhaps it was a typo from the club and in fact they meant he was going to rehab! Therefore the picture doing the rounds might of been Carroll enjoying his last night of freedom, although a certain TOWIE star might want to have a word in his shell like about the company he was keeping!
Realistically Carroll probably knows the writing is on the wall, if a club came in for him this transfer window West Ham would snap the potential buyers arm off, the problem for the West Ham hierarchy is who would want to buy him? Now there are some fans who would say "yes but he will go to another club and start banging in goals for fun after we have spent such a huge amount of time and money getting him fit". Hello, wake up, Andy Carroll is NEVER going to be fit enough to play a whole season nor any where near that, it is just the way it is. Of course Carroll has not helped himself with his lifestyle choices in the past, and it was hoped that having 'settled down' he would be able to concentrate on getting fit, unfortunately that doesn't appear to be the case.
It would be incredibly imprudent to base or design any team structure that relied upon Carroll, it would just be plain folly, the stats don't lie and West Ham United cannot afford to carry Andy Carroll any longer. - Ed

Out till 9am? Oh dear, Andy what have you done. Perfect comparison with Andy Capp, Nev. Hope people remember Flo. All I can say is that he hasn't won himself ANY fans from this, nor done himself any favours.

As an ex-rock and roller I can guarantee you don't stay up drinking until 8am without some 'additional chemical support'!

I've often been concerned about his long, mysterious disappearances.

Interesting and apt analogy nev. wasn't Andy Capp a Geordie as well? As for Carroll the writing is on the wall at last. We now have a striker so we don't rely on him so much which allowed him to maintain his charmed life, and at the end of the season he will only have 1 year left of his contract according to reports. Sakho can't be far behind on the contract either.

Carroll is still injured & has had operations. He was training at Rush Green last week & has now been given some time off. Looks like he is a long way off coming back

No surprise there then. Well get the usual update in August that he should be fit around Christmas and then we should get a game or two out of him come Feb/March before the end of season layoff. 6yr contract, 80k+pw, what a debacle!!! You can see why Sully is overly coy with his spending after getting burned on that one!
I stuck by Andy for a long while whilst he was out for the first yr or two but as time has gone on it's become clear that he'll never do what we need him to do and if by some miracle we can recoup some money for him, however small it may be you have to take it!

This is not the first time this happens, and is one of the causes of all his injuries. The club in my opinion should have brought it to Pre-season for rehabilitation, avoiding this. I'm sorry to say it, but at this point it's better to sell it, it will never do the whole season.

although Slav and others have been gentle and discrete about it, they have mentioned before that "lifestyle" was a contributing factor to his injury and rehab cycle.
