The King Is Dead Long Live The King As Paulo Fonseca Rides In

It is perhaps fitting that the man earmarked to take over the managerial hot seat at West Ham United from David Moyes should mainly be associated with wearing a mask! Some might say it is Zorro, others the Lone Ranger looking for Tonto, it is to be hoped for his sake and for that of the club that both parties do not end up becoming part of a 'Tontería'.

Fonseca is currently in charge of Shakhtar Donetsk in The Ukraine but is at the end of his contract and has previously been linked with the Everton job currently tentatively being held by ex-Hammers boss Big Sam Allardyce. However Paulo Fonseca yesterday met up with the David Sullivan as Hammers look to replace David Moyes who, despite him leading the club to a 13th place finish, was not a popular choice with the fans due to his 'pragmatic' style of play.

Fonseca has been quoted as saying “I have this dream and I believe this can happen, I believe a lot this can happen. If it’s soon or not, I have this dream, I have a big, big passion about the game and the atmosphere in England is amazing, I hope one day to live it, It’s the biggest league in the world. For any coach, to work in England can be amazing you have the best coaches and the best players.”
Although lost in the translation somewhat, his desire to come to the Premier League is obvious, he is young, has incredible connections and really could be the manager to take West Ham to another 'upper level'.

It is believed Fonseca also viewed a luxury property in the surrounding area after having held positive talks with David Sullivan, although it should be noted that neither co-owner David Gold nor newspaper columnist 'Lady' Brady were in attendance. Will The 'Fonz' have been impressed with Mr Sullivan's gnome collection? Or were they banished due to the fact that 'Super' Agent Jorge Mendes accompanied Fonseca for the 'meeting' which unsurprisingly the Press were aware of enough time in advance to ensure a few 'Piccies'.

There are apparently 40 managers who have thrown their hat in the ring for the vacant job, so using the well known Sully & Gold algorythm that means there are four serious contenders! Benitez, Pellegrini, Emery and Fonseca. The sooner the new manager is in place the better, because there is an awful lot of cleaning to do. - Ed

This manager business needs to be done with immediate affect,to start and sort out this team,as if this drags on too long into the summer,we will start with the same players and system, and in a relegation battle by mid October,at the earliest............................Yes I understand your De Boer input.

Im still baffled as to why Moyes is leaving ,seems to me towards the end of season they were playing better than ever ,especially the last 2 games and you cant put us staying up down to anyone else ,he turned our Arnie into a world class striker and got the rest up an motivated ,Nobbs turned into a revelation ,Rice ,every bit the professional at 19 ,even signs Mario was beginning to play with some sparkle ,my major bone of contention with him was hes insistence on playing Heart so much .
So anyone got a clue why!he's movin on ,or being moved on

I havent got a problem with Moyes,it was a team he inherited, not what he built, and we certainly finished much stronger that when he arrived. If we are going to keep him, give him a contract or move him on now,as i previously stated. This will not be an over night job,and whoever is long term, will need to get cracking now,not sometime in july.

A bit of continuity isnt a bad thing imo,he knows the players now,if we get someone in like fonseca, its gonna take a few months to gel (also no prem experience so its not guaranteed he will be a success)...why not give moyes a rolling contract for now?all this changing managers every 6 months is bollox imo

So that's him ruled out...was the 75min meeting at chav central enough for him to think screw that.....can we please just get on with signing Maclaren or coleman....like players with big reputations we love being linked with with the same seems to be happening with Managers.....Today the papers all over the Rafa Link....they want to make it a reality they are going to have to pay big bucks but that's something we don't do.......

It would cost them in excess of £6 Million to 'buy' Rafa out of Newcastle, imagine if the money was paid? "Now Rafa, you know the war chest we mentioned, you of course realise we have to deduct the £6 Million from it don't you?" ...
