West Ham’s current upturn in form has been remarkable to witness with the Hammers riding out an intense Christmas fixture list to pull themselves out of the relegation zone. A managerial change always seems to spike immediate results but the early signs are that the appointment of David Moyes will continue to inspire the Hammers improved trajectory.

Under Slaven Bilic, West Ham’s training regime required a lot of running and very little focus on ball work. It was common knowledge that the players detested the Croatian's methods and equated it to the drive to school on a Monday morning. The introduction of Moyes at West Ham has shaken things up and returned some normality and methodology to training again, so much so that the performances on matchdays have drastically improved.

Since Moyes has taken over, the Scot has overseen a win against last year's champions Chelsea, a draw with Arsenal, plus multiple draws that have resulted in the Hammers scoring 3 of their 11 goals under Moyes in the last 10 minutes. The Londoners are running for longer and are now capable of putting in far more competitive performances over 90 minutes.

It is undeniable that the stamina of the West Ham squad has increased under Moyes and so has their discipline, which is helping the Hammers grind out points in games that they would have lost under Bilic.

An inalienable truth accepted throughout the world of football is that, if you aren't as talented as the rest, then you need to be able to work harder and run more so you can stay competitive. Moyes is a seasoned campaigner and will know that, if West Ham are to stay up, he will need his charges fitter than the teams that lie in wait for them during the second half of the season.

West Ham’s resurgent form has many believing that they won’t be playing Championship football next season. Moyes may have been the man in charge when Sunderland went down last campaign but a repeat of that with the Hammers seems more unlikely with every passing fixture. The latest football betting tips confirm that, with Moyes’ men now at 4/1 with Betsafe for relegation, which is a great improvement from the free-fall that the club were in under Bilic.

At the best of times, football is unpredictable but good managers know how to reduce the number of variables that could result in their teams failing. The purse strings may be opened up for the former Manchester United boss in January but, even if they aren't, Moyes will have a plan in place to ensure West Ham’s top-flight status is secured. The Scot is starting with the basics like fitness and the results of that being implemented properly are already evident.

The change of attitude amongst the squad at West Ham has stemmed from Moyes’ instance that they train in a far more professional and calculated way. Both West Ham and David Moyes need this relationship to work and Moyes knows that, by starting from the ground up, he will turn the Hammers back into a Premier League force.

I was going home after watching Brighton beat us when the DLR train I was on first went quiet as a hammers fan reading his smart phone said sh*t Moyes is replacing Bilic then lots of swearing and disbelief myself included.
How wrong we all were.
Early days but on current form we would be 8th and although we still look awful at times it is getting better. Hope it continues and I enjoy watching West ham again especially after yesterday's thrashing of Huddersfield and not just hope we don't lose each week.
