On a good team, in a good season, every player does their part. Couldn't see this match, but very happy to see the score. Wolves had won three straight. No replay for us, another clean sheet, looking like a strong team at present.

Not the greatest match by all reports I've heard but took Carroll to come off the bench and change the game. He setup the goal which was taken well (saw it on Twitter).

Logging on from the heart of the Caribbean... didnt get tp see the game, they showed eastbourne v bolton instead... how was the match? Jelavic scored! Sounds like a good goal too

Just saw the highlights and it seemed a good match after all. In the first half we had two good shots with Obiang and Cresswell. A great rescuing of the rock collins, increasingly important and a nice goal from Jelavic. Well done potent hammers

What can I say about this so called pundit. He predicted a Liverpool win. However, it was not to be. They drew, I think. Hey Lawro, keep on predicting that West Ham will lose and one day you may get that right.

For this particular thread I'd say it was quiet cause nobody could follow the game anyway. No streams or radio commentary hence no posts. Just saw Lawro on that pointless show (how apt) not the sharpest pencil in the box surprise surprise. He thought Alaska was a country! Make me wonder if moaning about this village idiot is either cruel or too easy

... it was so quiet, I fell asleep! ;) But then it was four o'clock in the morning! Well done to the Hammers. And ACS -- if you're still there -- I envy you being in the Caribbean.

And there are a LOT of Hammers fans down under. I made it to a preseason match at Southend a couple of years ago and met some of the folks from this site. Wonderful day. Hope to make it to the OS next season sometime.

I'd bear it in mind hammer about recommendations also want to take in Brisbane and Gold Coast and the barrier reef if poss. Is it best to rent a car in Brisbane to get to the Gold Coast? And is it really feasible to get to the barrier reef from Brisbane or is it best to get a closer base to it?

You will need a few months to get through that lot!We only went for a few weeks to sydney,& it took all that time to visit the places we wanted to in that area.As you know, oz is a vast continent but Im sure the Aussies on here will be able to give you info on the places you intend to go to.

Hopefully it won't be too much of a rush. I want to go to the barrier reef but it's gona be a right spoke in the wheel. We are at the stage we are trying to do as much research as poss. My other halfs best mate from school now lives in Brisbane so that might be a help.

Just got back from the Boleyn via train going full of Wolves fans, some good banter with them even sharing there beer with me and my mate..Having a pint or two in the Boleyn pub and a burger after to soak up the ale we had tickets for the Betway stand ( west stand upper ) cracking views from someone who usually stand in the BBM lower or upper. making hard work of the game in the first half when Payet & Carroll game on the tempo ( IMO ) improved and although it was the only goal of the match the best team won...........Right as for the atmosphere in that west stand upper I don't know if it was me or what but it was dead...........ok the bubbles were song at the start of each half, you could hear the chanting at the BBM stand and I give the wolves fan there do they were nearly non stop when it came to singing. I enjoyed the day I must have save hours by walking to west ham tube then on to Euston Sq walking to Euston it self, one to remember next time.....

I was there too Bonzo in the Bobby Moore Lower in the corner by the Chicken Run. Wolves were poor and had one chance, we were lethargic in the main first half. But once we got our possession game going the gulf in class was obvious. Managed to get a word with Sir Trev before the game in the Car Park and David Gold outside the Stadium shop. Second half was all West Ham obviously when Payet and Carroll came on it was just a matter of time before we scored. The atmosphere was quite subdued I thought. The Wolves fans never stopped singing throughout, but we are no different when we go away. Only downside as usual was queuing 1/2 a mile back from UP tube stn in the pissing rain...............

The last few times I've been in the BBM lower was near the corner ( some Italian fans set up there pitch with there flag if I remember )...I hung about near the car park as well ( you have Bob hope in a current playing getting his sig ), I must have missed Trev, but my mate told me to stand near Gold and before he left after some kids got there photo's taken, I shook his hand and my mate took a cracking photo of the pair of us...In a way boogers I'm glad we walked ( in the rain ) to West ham tube and caught the train before upton, I will defo be doing that next time, and in my head it' was telling me it was quicker than trying to get out of Barking rd in a car, then onto the motorway...time wise it's about the same time but less hassle ( driving wise )...

to watch and being in Spain could not listen to the bbc radio. Great result, could have been a banana skin in the past.

Ive been to a few games recently & we have been in different areas & like you both mention the atmosphere in some parts of the ground is baffling. We were right at the back in the east stand upper on the halfway line against stoke & apart from bubbles you could hear a pin drop!!ive been in different areas of the Betway before (alpari) exactly the same, bobby moore upper ditto....as a passionate westham fan (especially as its the last season) i dont get it...

in the West stand upper I don't think I hear one swear word. not like the BBM lower, I could hear Payet song being sung.............nothing where I was sitting and we were sitting as well all through the match ( until the goal )

Yeah I have been questioning the lack of noise atmosphere in the ground for years now. Takes a lot away from a good day and wonder how it's gona transfer to the os.

Completely agree with all thats been said about the atmosphere as the Payet song says, I just don't think we understand, as I'm sure I don't. I honestly think it's since the ground changed and the stands were changed. Which is going back a long way now...

That's why I prefer away matches, 2 1/2 - 3,000 fans ALL SINGING together, like the Wolves were doing...I rest my case M'lud

Was at the game as well, took my six yr boy for his first experience at Upton Park, watched all the players come off the coach at the start (standing next to Payet's yellow Lamborghini in the car park!) Not like the old days when players used to stop and sign autographs, all too focused with their headphones in (apart from Nobes who gave us a wave). Match itself not much to write home about, Wolves were pretty poor and we had most of the possession. Ginge was immense at the back again (not sure how Reid got motm over him). Great finish by Jelavic who had been pretty much a spectator up until then. Carroll and Payet coming on made a real impact giving Jelavic some space to finish. Great day out though, there were 14 of us from the same family (3 generations) with my dad who has been supporting the Hammers since 1952. COYI

Thats what it's all about, family, not as in the Eastenders dross. But about passing the support down through generations. This will be the last time myself and my 2 boys 29 and 19 respectively will ever be together at The Boleyn, so we savoured the atmosphere at the end and had a good look around. Memories came flooding back to me like standing in the Westside in a midweek game against Cambridge Utd dancing to Mike Oldfields Portsmouth at half time in the snow 11500 of us that night in the lead up to Christmas. Plus standing behind the goal in the Northbank watching us spank Sunderland and literally descending down a dozen steps with the surging of the delirious crowd when we scored. So many memories, due to work commitments it's the last trip we'll take together......

Reading it makes you realise that we really are coming to the end of an era.I still go with my son 18 & daughter 21,but there are not many games left so im trying my hardest to get tickets...hoping for another home game in the next round of the cup also.we missed the wolves game because of like yourself- work commitments.it will probably embaress my children now at their age but i must take a family photo outside the john lyall gates (crossed hammers stylee!!!) before the season ends.
