How bad is this?

Submitted by Enfieldhammer on Mon, 02/02/2015 - 23:15

It's just turned 2300 and the transfer window has slammed firmly shut. As it stands Carlton Cole is on the verge of joining WBA. Mauro Zarate is out on loan with QPR. Diarra Sakho is currently unable to play due to complications with FIFA. That leaves us with just Enner Valencia and a possibly injured again Andy Carroll. Then we look at our back line. Tompkins and Ginge injured. Only Reid who is fit out of our centre halves. How could this shambles be allowed to take place. Was the board trying to be cute and move the goal posts on deals? Are the wheels about to come of our season. It was obvious what was required before January. Now. I feel, we will be on a slippery slope and no Europa League qualification through league or FA Cup success. Roll on Man Utd.

Carlton stays. Senegal out of AFCON, so see no reason to not play him if fit. The injuries are worrying, but none of them (touching wood) seemed very bad. My main grudge is that we should've been looking for CB all season, and had something lined up... perhaps we did and it didn't happen. I also worry about rumours that Noble is out of sorts/out of favour.

All I can say is thankfully we have 36 points and no real fear of relegation...the slippery slope we never dreamed of is in fact a harsh reality born of piss poor management...how we are in this position when mid December we were looking indestructible is beyond me. COYI

After we signed no one and Carlton stayed in the end I wondered why we had not done our dealings a lot earlier? Now Big Sam reckons 1 point in next 3 games as we face Manure.Southampton and Spurs I wonder even more now about our brilliant start (Spurs and Southampton apart) and our floundering since Andy Carroll and Nolan came back in the team!!! We basically have not changed our style and are relying on quality players who at the moment are not in the team or have lost some of their form. Just hope we turn it around soon!
