I think tonight will be a tough game, probably more so than our Sunday heartache against the mancs. Soton have stuttered some what of late, but boast a good defensive record and have the potential for goals all through their team. West Ham love to score away from home but haven't done much away for the last seven games with only one win. However, spirits must be high after a great performance Sunday. Sakho and Valencia could well start again but our defensive woes could still see Kouyate utilised at the back, but he did a good job there last time out so should be fine.

I agree, NT. Of the teams that have beaten us this season, I'd argue that the loss to the Saints early in the campaign was the most comprehensive defeat of all. That really was a "bad day at the office" for the entire side. BUT it was early in the year, before our new players had settled in, and before Carroll was fit again. I don't like to predict games -- if only because I always get it wrong! LOL But tough game it will be, and any of the 3 results are quite possible. From what Sam says I think Cheik will have to play at centre-half again, but he did so well at the weekend that's not a worry, except that we miss his power and speed in midfield a bit.

I was just mucking about mate . I think I was one of the first on here to say what was wrong with Cole on here years and years ago even when he was picked for England. He seems a nice person but never has been a prem player.

That's true. Like quite a few in our squad he's simply not good enough for a club with our ambitions. He's what I think of as a Chump/Prem player... good enough for top half of the chumps and bottom half of the prem...but not good enough for top half of the prem. Trouble is we can't afford to instantly build a top half prem squad, so we have to keep a few players of Cole's level for a while yet.

I agree, he aint scored enough goals burkie but in all the games you've watched him play, did you count the number of ridiculous long passes were just fired at him when he had little or no support? Numerous times he has bought the ball under control, and looked to make the simple lay off. Where was his support? Nowhere. Who was his support meant to be? Nolan, you can't slate coley off if you don't also look closely at the tactics being given to the team, or the supposed support that should be running of him

i agree with you , the tactics when Cole is included in the team are dubious to say the least and yes he has been used as cannon fodder a lot of the time , but it doesn't take away from the fact that he doesn't have a great deal of skill , and to me anyway his commitment level, and or his fitness level's are questionable , i suppose it does come across that i dislike the man , nothing could be further from the truth , with a few exceptions ( namely Hitler and jihad John ) iv'e never intensely disliked anyone ive never met , ive always said it he would be a great addition to a lot of teams in the lower divisions
