I only caught the second half of Thursdays encounter and it was good to see so many youngsters in the fray, even though the opposition was not quite like anything the club has faced before and were poor I wonder just how much of a positive effect the game had on our academy and fringe players? Of course it was all about winning and the result in the end was comfortable though in any situation you cannot be complacent. This must have made a refreshing change compared to the young guns 0-5 reverse at Forest 2 seasons ago, that game must have literally demoralised some of those lads, so despite it not being overly pretty and with a hint of luck could have been an even bigger victory I for one am pleased that the young lads especially got to taste a first team victory.

Yeah, Lusitans were not very good (to say the least!) But along with another good run out in the away leg, it will have done the youngsters no harm at all. And helped ensure Sakho, Tomka etc. hit the ground running when the PL starts. If we have to play the Armenian side in the second round though, that could be a nightmare of a trip for those brave (and rich) enough to travel! But will help us prepare for a LONG season ahead.

As sad as it was at the time You could also look at it that the 0-5 drubbing was a massive learning curve for the youngsters, they done very well coming out in front of a fullhouse and putting in a professional job, blooding our yong'uns is back on track under bilic, loving the speech he gave the boys! here "He was in the dressing-room for the team talk. We presented (Lewis) Page and (Reece) Oxford with their debut shirts and the manager and the chairman did the talk.

"They said 'Wear these shirts with pride and some honour. You are following some outstanding players, (Geoff) Hurst, (Bobby) Moore, (Frank) Lampard, (Rio) Ferdinand ... it's time for you to create your legacy.' The manager did that speech

I still have nightmares going to the city ground with that game. Not only was the game bad the b******ds at the bbc at half time even got me in shot eating a dodgy pie on the terraces...
