Expectations

Mathematically Possible but unlikely. So barring a huge win over Burnley and results elsewhere heading in our favour we're ending the season in the bottom half of the table!
It seems to be only the last few weeks, that the upheaval we've faced this season, has contributed to us falling below many fans expectations which I'm sure included another shot at Europe.
So a tough season but we've escaped the tragedy Hull, Boro and Sunderland face, so what if any are your expectations for next season? Do you see us battling for survival with the same crock forwards, or challenging in the battle for a coveted European spot. The ole chestnut of a decent cup run I'm sure will figure for many.

We have to have a reality check about the current squad before anything. Having endured this season I'm pleased its over if I'm honest. Apart form Chelase in the cup and Spurs, we've been average and poor mostly. The keepers aren't good enough, Adrian thinks he's De Gea and feels he has to do something tricky or clever every game. Byram sorry for you fans but he's not good enough at this level. He has two or three clangers in him every game, where the opposition get a chance to score. Cresswell hasn't been the same since his injury and can go to Liverpool for a big fee and good luck to him. Obiang good but average, Koyate needs legs around him in midfield and should probably play back three now as Fonte, Reid, Collins aren't capable of bring the ball out meaningfully. Noble, love him but which other Prem teams would he get in apart form those coming up, so not good enough for the "next" level. Lanzini class but isolated, Antonio the same. Carrol pointless. Every team has recognised striker even two we have none. Ayew, Feghouli, Snodgrass, Nordveit also rans average players at best. Calleri is League one quality at best. Fernandes I like and think could play as a right wing back. So there's not a lot there even for a new manager to pick the bones from. I can't see the board overhauling the squad so more of the same next year I'm afraid.

Bleedin hell Bet you dont half paint depressing picture ,so what your saying is the whole squad. Is tosh and i pretty much agree ,i still say our redemption lies in our tranfere policy ,the right leg is going in a different direction to the left ,we must sort it and quick other wise we'll be fighting relegation in November

There are not 3 teams clear favourites to go down. If Reading or Fulham win the playoffs, we could see the most competitive season in the Premier League in a long time. I would say that Watford and Swansea are in trouble. I don't have a good enough sense of Brighton to know if they can cling to their promotion. Newcastle are not going back down for a while. Stoke, potentially, could have trouble, and possibly Leicester. We should be safe, but we'll be in the mix to be relegated at some point, most likely. The trouble is that there is so much investment needed. If we can get two really competitive players to sign this summer, then I'd be pleased. We'd have a chance of a season with a solid mid-table performance, no threat of relegation, a couple of scalps here and there, and maybe a cup quarter-final, with a lucky run. Sorry to say, that's about the best we can hope for, in my opinion, and I would be satisfied if that's what we get.
