Football on TV

Heard an interesting thought about this whilst in the shower listening to Talksh**e this morning and it is all about the revenues that can be made from new tv deals etc and when asked what his thoughts were Simon Jordan i think made a number of peoples jaws drop when he said that the Premier League should become like the Netflix site and have there own channel and have subscribers pay £8/10 a month too watch the Premier league now he estimated with its worldwide popularity compared to other leagues around the world you could be looking at potentially making and eye watering £10billion a year A YEAR not like now £8.25 billion over3/4 years and i just wondered yeah that sounds great but what will happen to the rest of football in this country because the prem certainly would not want to be sharing that kind of income with lower league football and sky/bt/amazon? etc would not fork out anywhere near the kind of money they do now too show lower league football and it could ruin the game here for everyone.
Simon Jordan voiced this and i am pretty sure people are even now crunching the numbers or have been for a while to see how viable this would be and if the projection is anywhere near what he Predicts we could see the game transform once more in front of our eyes.

I for one would welcome being able to watch every Hammers game live on my tele. I`m a disabled season ticket holder and go to as many games as possible. I don`t go to away games and am totally reliant on my carer being free to take me to when we are at home so being able to watch them all without trying to find some grainy and unreliable stream would be excellent.
I`m pretty sure that Sky would have a major say in this ever happening as they decide what, when & at what picture quality we can watch the sport we want.
There would certainly be more than a few fat brown envelopes flying about should this go to tender !!!.

Being someone who would go to as many games as possible at uppers,i would pay 8/10 quid a month to watch our team...i doubt ill ever go again to the bowl of misery,so makes sense imo

Stay at home watching on TV instead of joining the 60K throng cheering on our club? Its only a Bowl of Misery due to the recent crap on the pitch. In Pell we trust and the LS will soon be the Bowl of Pleasure :o) KTF, COYI's!!!!

For trying mate!!;)
For me the changes needed for me to go again:
Proper westham people who used to sell their wares down green st rather than the sour faced food & drink vendors outside the new ground charging ridiculous amounts.
The distance from the pitch to stands greatly reduced (as was the initial promise from gold)
Safe standing areas.
That would be a start imo...but can't see any of those things happening

I will get you there one day buddy!

Regarding distance from pitch, and I ageee Gold just lied on that one... theres a surprise, I think its not as bad as all the press paints it. I sit 5 rows from the front of the upper tier in the TB and the view is great. I have a mate who had a seat in the Alpari but chose not to renew his season ticket. I sent him a photo of the view we have at the LS, he said Youre miles from the pitch, I replied"Im a bloody site closer than you are sat at home"!

And thats the point. Going to the match, a drink before with family and friends, getting the buzz, debating the previous game and whats about to unfold, which Westham will turn up etc etc...Cant beat it...Brilliant! KTF!!!

I can only comment on my experiences, went to the very first "showpiece" match against juve,my reaction - I can't believe what they have done!! For the record I've sat in the same part as you & yes not a bad view bit it's ridiculous how far away it is...subsequent games I've been about another 7/8 times.saturday games,mid-week relegation 6 pointers, cup games & prem games against bitter london rivals all the times I've come away disappointed at the match day experience there...

I dont think you can use the Juve game as an example, it was VERY artificial that day, more tourists than Madame Tussauds and we also played like dummys!!! Mind you, with no separation of supporters we had a beer with the legend Franco Causio ,World Cup winning former Juventus player... great experience, happy daz!!!

In the cut throat building game sales is part of the make up,I'm not easily convinced!!my point is it hasnt got much better 3 seasons after the juve game...

Not for you? The Home of West Ham United? UP is gone , its a building site, move on. Embrace our home or join the away support that slag it off our home through gritted jealous teeth, adopt a new club with a nice old football stadium or maybe Spudz with their fancy new purpose built Football ground? Me, I'm West Ham through and through, I would support them playing on the moon in a cricket ground. Enjoy your sofa and internet, Im rubbing shoulders with 60K Hammers!!!

I'd say maybe half are proper hammers the rest are tourists or fans who have followed our club for 5 minutes.it maybe home to you but for a lot of westham fans who have followed our club for 50 years its just a rented athletics venue dressed up by owners who wouldnt know their Alan devonshire from their David cross!!;)

I have also supported them for over 50 years and if God gives me grace I will support them for a few years more. Over 50K season tickets 65 says to me they are Hammers and calling them all tourists is a bit of an insult to all that go along by putting their money where their months are. Like I have said, its only a matter of time and the LS will belong to WHU. In the meantime its still Home because we dont have another one so I moved on.

20k new season ticket holders who I reckon havnt followed westham for long which includes tourists & supporters of other clubs that have been able to buy a ST which is a disgrace imo

You did say half but I still think thats a bit harsh. Yes, like all clubs in the Prem we have the tourists, thats just typical of the modern times but the majority I feel are firm Hammers. If there are supporters of other clubs with season tickets who's fault is that? West Ham fans should have bought them. Or blame G&S for trying to pitch the prices at an affordable level? IMO this season has more genuine fans than previously. A good team on the pitch, free of mass injuries and the LS will not only be our home but actually feel like home.

Go to quite a few away games as that is where the atmosphere is and how do i manage to get those tickets? easy i no a few tourists who have season tickets and are not west ham fans so when i am not working i avail myself of there ability to get the away game tickets....and yes another hammer fan of 50yrs+ and like i said you enjoy the new ground it is your choice to go like it is mine not to but that does not stop me being as passionate a west ham fan as any other.

theres no going back 65, this is football today. I agree, the half and half scarves are crazy particularly if they both play in the same league. I get it if its a team from another country where theres split loyalty. Selfies are odd but having been a few times to Old Trafford I can assure you that the LS has nothing on that lot! Sit down moaners... Thats me!!! :o)

Delighted to see at the LS more areas for "unofficial" standing in the lower tier and most of the now Billy Bonds stand and that the stewards are taking a much more relaxed approach compared to the early days that just stired up aggro. Would love to see safe standing adopted which will come soon when WHU own the stadium... watch this space !!!
