Give Moyes a new contract

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Fri, 05/01/2018 - 10:32

Ive seen enough to believe he's the right man to take us forward. I was skeptical initially but this looks a lot like the Moyes who spent 11 years at Everton. They were mixed seasons there sure, but overall he did a solid job. Ive liked his hard work approach, he keeps things simple, gets players fit and doesnt stand for nonsense. The board were skeptical too, hence the short term contract but i believe they should now assess it again and give him a 3 year deal. this will stabilise the club, it will send a message that he's here to stay, the players will know it and so too those he tries to bring in this window. My assessment is : good job done David, keep it up.

Like most other westham fans i was underwhelmed at his appointment but TBF to him hes doing a good job & like you say the best part for me is he stands for no nonsense...have sugo got a plan to keep him in place after 6 months?we would hope so!

I’ve got to disagree guys, sorry. Not for me. What is the point of football to the paying supporter anymore? Barring a couple of clubs it’s not much fun is it? My family are 4 generations of West Ham fans and paying punters. They would go to Football to escape the drudgery of normal life. It was classed as entertainment. Owners and players felt a responsibility to entertain. It was escapism. Now Football is run for owners, players, agents, tv viewers, advertisers, corporations and tourists. Not for the paying fans. We can’t change allegiances, as that’s a no no, if we could we’d also support Man City! So having these managers like Moyes, Allardyce, Pulis, Hodgson, Hughes etc.... we now have the footballing version of a boxer tucking behind his gloves and throwing a punch every other round. Having gone to Wembley on Thursday I can only say apart from Obiang’s hit and hope, we were woeful. Totally parked the bus and couldn’t even get out of the garage for 2 mins. I’d rather have a go and if I’m honest, if we go down because of it we go down. We have before and come back so what? For me being in the Prem is not as imprtanat as watching my team play well or try and attack. So thanks David but no thanks. Or tell me which games you’re going to park the bus and I’ll give them a miss

Bang on there Dicksy, couldn't agree more. Let's get him on board and go from there, we need stability and he seems to like us. I'm really not frightened of anyone now. Bring on the Lilywhites any time. Kane was crap and resorted to whinging at the ref (never seen that before) Oi Kane! Shut y' mouwff, no literally try to shut your mouth. (is he Beavis or Butthead? I'm never sure which one's which) Deli Ali was shite. We brought their shitty little club down to earth, again. They really must hate playing us. Had one shot, we've only had one shot... Classic

Is make the players understand from the very start is that he is the man what he says goes if you don't run you don't get picked if your out of form you get dropped no matter who you are....players now no where they stand and on the contract front when hearing that moyes said he would take a long hard look at snodgrass in the summer before making a decision on him well that kind of tells you he will be here for a while longer than his 6 months contract.

Moyes has done alright in my opinion. I often find myself agreeing with him and he seems like he says it as it is. I think he deserves to be allowed to bring his own men in in January. As far as making him permanent manager I'd just like to hold off a little longer as I want to see his team put away the points against some of the teams around us.

I'd like to see where we finish and who becomes available, but I wouldn't be against him. Unlike some I don't think the likes of Marco Silva would do much better. But it all depends on what Moyes is allowed in the transfer window. I don't think we will sign anyone this window to be honest.

Hes steadied a sinking ship...in fact against tottenham before obiangs goal the football from us was as bad as ive seen in a long time.granted we were defending for our lives but the constant hoofing (remember who invented that!!) to no one was painfull to watch!we got a point at tottenham which is not to be sniffed at considering our position, but if you want the westham way again you may have a long wait!!

I didnt think we played all that bad considering we were playing (and i hate to say this )one of the best structured passing sides in the prem ,i must say i expected a lot worse when the side was announced, sure there was a lot of hoofing but what do you expect? ,young Deco playing his heart out must have been very nervous as did the rest of the defence it was a kind of one off our usual formation wiped out mainly due to an injury to one player ,i dont think moyes had much choice but to play chic pea and later Ayew up front as cannon foder ,there was a lot of decent passing especially from Arthur and lanz leading up to the goal .
This is going to be a long drawn out prosses it will take years to get where we would all prefer to be ,the so called west ham way might have to wait until we slowly build our club again ,right now its prem survival,im pretty sure everyones expectations when we moved were. Fantastic now we're going to be ranked with the big boys ,top 4s ,Europian football all within a couple of years ,unfortunately fate took a hand and we were forced to play away for the first 4 and we too some almighty poundings add to that we had a manager who wasnt up to the job and the nervousness set in nearly destroying us ,now we've got some great results ,a pretty competent manager and a feeling that maybe ,just maybe the worst might be over

You missed all the hoofing to that midget Chico against Tottenham? At least Sam put a big fella up there to collect 'em, and no, Mr Allardyce didn't invent the hoof, I guess you've forgotten the old Wimbledon team that played top flight football back in the day. Talking of sinking ships, remember also that Sam took over a sunken ship and rebuilt it form scratch into a consolidated Premier League team. But no. that wasn't good enough. You all wanted to play the West Ham Way and look where that got us. So now we are here with Moyes playing some of the most defensive football I've seen in my time here, with a squad of players that shouldn't even BE in the bottom half of the table and oh! Thats ok, we need to play that way because we're struggling.
Going by the criteria Dicksy has outlined for his love of Moyes, we got rid of one that had all those credentials. And HE wasn't good enough!

To hernandes & i remember the old wimbledon side too!Id put moyes on a par with sam, both mediocre managers who will keep you in the prem...but who else can we attract? You bang on about sam being such a great manager, what success has he had other than being known to keep a team in the prem.Did you watch Everton last night?

Slav didnt have a bad first 6 months what i remember, wins at liverpool, citeh & the arse to mention a few.also in his first season in the prem we finished 7th,had our most points (62) & highest goals scored (65) & our least number of defeats 8.

He also got Payet handed to him on the back of a well drilled Allardyce team. Which after being in charge for longer and longer got worse and worse. Moyes was given a team that was unbalanced, unfit, not well coached, ageing, no confidence, no squad depth, and was getting battered consistently by teams for 2 in a half seasons,

Your point?
I'm not banging on about Sam being a great manager. Not in the league of the Alex Fergusons or Cloughs of this world who built successful teams as opposed to buying pre made teams such as the Joses and Peps of this world. Merely pointing out that Moyes and Allardyce are much of a likeness. Could've had Pulis or Warnock for all the difference it would have made. Also pointing out that we took two steps forward with Allardyce three steps back with Bilic and taking one step forward with Moyes. We've got absolutely nowhere. Just changed one unpopular manager for another, who lets face it, isnt going to make us any better than Allardyce could have.
Anyone here want to take a punt on Moyes doing better here than Allardyce at Everton?

Moyes doing better here than sam at Everton...My point is Sam,Slav or moyes imo are all about as good as each other in different ways.So i cant see the obsession with "sam could have taken us to the next level".Your possibly right about we have gone round in circles management wise, but we are a side that is at the very best mid-table & at the worst fighting against relegation & at least moyes is appearing to do the right things (we all knew it wasnt going to be pretty)...it will always be like this unless we are taken over by some billionaires or trillionaires the way its going...thats why a lot of us have a gripe against the present owners, promising success starved fans a chance of a bit of glory, when we might as well have stayed at upton park - the situation is the same!!

Slavs first couple of seasons with us,although agreed he wasnt up to the job in the end...

First couple? There were performances in his first season that were worse then anything I saw under Allardyce or Moyes, his 2nd season was a disaster and a few lucky 1-0 wins still seem to be clouding peoples judgements over how poor a manager Bilic was and has been for every team hes managed,

Sorry Fred I can't agree with this statement you made "clouding people's judgement over how poor a manager bilic was" .............. For me the statement should read IS not WAS!

I, personally, wasn't aware that any money was available till outgoings were made after Koeman pissed nearly 100 mill up the wall last summer. Barkley gone to Chelsea so that's a start

The squad at the moment is not his own. I hope he gets the adequate funds to bring in who he wants to bring in this month "Not your choice that has to be run by the kids sully" to begin to make it his own,Then he can properly be judged, but would like to see what happens after/or if he keeps us in the prem,Sam made us difficult to beat but wasn’t enough for the fans in the end,not sure they’d put up with hoof ball again every week, but the Problem now is there's simply too much money at stake and owners are too wrapped up with money and greed and it's all about survival now,it's the best we're gonna get with these owners.

At multi millionaire club Manchester Utd. He bought Fellaini. God knows what he'd buy at a budget club like ours.
Come to that looking at all his signings at Everton during his tenure there don't exactly inspire confidence. Apparantly known at Everton as "Dithering Dave", criticising what they saw as indecisive management, particularly regarding transfers.

All good. No, I didn't forget Mata. I went online and looked up all Moyes signings so I didn't forget anyone. None of them excite me and Rooney didn't last long as they had a massive fall out that was settled out of court.
