Hernandez up front.

so apparently Bilic wanted Hernandez last season as well. so this means that this is a striker he has been looking to work with for a good while now. so I'm no football mastermind but surely if this is the case he has to have thought about how to utililize him as best as possible? i looked back at some leverkusen line ups and chichirito was up front in a 2 with a player sitting just behind him at times. at man u when he came on usually from the bench he went up front in a two or three to rescue the game. it just makes no sense to me playing him as a lone striker. in the first half v southampton he was practically not in the game as there was no service to him, when he did get the ball he was too deep. now harry for example would see him as a kitson, cottee or similar and play hartson or dowie etc alongside him. the big man to get his head to the ball, bully defenders around and basically hold it up for the small man to get onto. if you play one up front it means the lone striker has the full attention of the back 2 or 3. if you put someone alongside him then the very least that player takes one defender away giving him more space. now i know modern football is all about being boring and smothering the midfield but why can't bilic see that in the two rubbish games we've played so far hernandez came to life when he desperately changed it to a more attacking line up? even with sakho alongside him it looked far better, or antonio up there. you can't play 4-4-2 i know, its a dinosaur of a formation they say, its been killed off by 4-2-3-1, but teams in germany are still using it to good effect. just imagine if carroll is fit and we have him and chichirito up front. carroll would take 2 defenders off him for a start, leaving a gaping hole in the defence. or is the gaping hole in Bilic brain?

managers are like sheep and follow the trend rather than buck it...like all this bullshit passing from keeper to deep sitting defenders who panic pass back to keeper pass to another defender who gets closed down and guess what either back to the keeper or lump it upfield...pep started this over here and others have followed its bloody stupid and waste of time for me.....and chicharito does need help 10000000000000000% agree but i dont think it has to be another bigman just another striker...like i said sak showed he is getting his movement back and those two together will be real dangerous IMO....but for any of our thoughts to work slav has to change his thinking but it was abit like england at the mexico world cup the only reason we got lineker waddle barnes and beardsly was through injury to robson and wilkins....and i think it will take something like that to change slavs mind

We don't need 2 dm's for a 442, but I'd use 352. With 2 dm's 2 wing backs and sakho up with Hernandez. Plan b would be 451

good pairing, imho. Service from Arnautovic and Antonio. Set-up by good distribution from Carvalho (hopefully) and Kouyate (less clear how good he is this role). Still worried about the back four and keeper.

gonna be a few games til we see Arnie back. In the meantime I'm sure Snoddy could do a job. Whether it's as a winger though is a different question altogether!
