And guess what, West Ham are being linked with every player that is over twenty and under forty surprise surprise. How the so called tabloids luv to put shit on our club, if their is a good player or a shit player out there we are linked with him in some form or another. Looking at the players out side we have Sakho, Carrol, Ayew leaving, looking at the players in side so far there must be at least sixty players mentioned so far but let's face it our owners won't get any of them unless they are cheap or loans.
Being realistic I can see a couple coming in but which ones is still a lottery. We need to look at what positions need to be addressed to fix up the team and keep us up. Firstly goalkeepers, Adrian is by far first choice. Just my opinion but Hart is past it so send him back to City and find a decent second, I don't know who is available but their has to be some decent ones out their.
Defence, We have Zabs and while not young he still puts in a shift. Reid who I suspect is playing with an old injury but is falling behind a bit now so why not give Oxford a go. Ginger is a warhorse but getting on Fonte, Ogbonna some good but the occasional blunder, Rice the best potential we have seen in years Cresswell another good day bad day player, and Byram who has been out with injury for a long time. Who do we let go to replace.
Midfield, We have some good players but for me that's the area we need to improve. Kouyate has been out of sorts for a long time now, Obiang on his day can be good but doesn't seem to play well with Kouyat. Noble, apart from the occasional bad foul always puts in a shift and is definitely the heart and soul of the club. Masuaku, since his move further up the field has been a revelation. Lanzini, for me is still the man that can make this team a force but just seems to be missing something. Arno, playing further forward has been our best but this is West Ham and you know that sooner or later will pick up an injury. And lastly Antonio, runs all day but not quite fit enough lately and with an injury.
Forwards, Chitorito is not having the best of runs at the moment but the way we play is not suiting him either, Carrol, unplayable when he is on the field, when. Sakho, wants out so hopefully someone buys him. Ayew, a disappointment even though he is our best goal scorer.
So who can we realistically get in that will improve our team and keep us up, I could mention some but I would like to hear some of your views and discussions. By the way, also like to hear what the news of Calkers trial with us on a free.

Alby, apart from you analysis on Carroll. Id pretty much have to agree that you are spot on. Like Mac says the job is so big it needs to be done in the summer. Like I said in another post there are a lot of players we could get shot of (for whatever reason) that won't make much of a difference to us apart from a lack of numbers. Looking at our bench Thursday shows that up! We need 2 established and decent centre midfielders. Sullivan should maybe chuck all his spare cash at that. These can't be players that patch us up for six months! It isn't working doing that. We need players that we don't need to replace again come May! Seems obvious to me we need leadership on the field and lack confidence. I'm bringing to feel our lack of confidence comes more from our poor passing than it does from lack of points. The players don't seem to gain much confidence from the points we get. So I'd get 2 decent mid fielders with leadership and passing. I think some of the names we are linked with are decent and could do the job. Joe Allen should be perfect for us. Also like arter and nzonzi. Jonjo is a big Nono for me, it stinks of going down the same failed road as before. Once we get these 2 midfielders then anyone who is sold should be replaced.

But I can't see Stoke letting him come to us, I read that Emry Cann is someone that we should go for, premier league experience but not sure about him. The thing that worries me is the hype about some of our juniors like Habsa or how ever you spell it so why not give him a chance in the cup game, see how he goes and also Martinez and Quina. They won't get a chance otherwise. They could be our sleepers but unless they can get on the field we won't know.

Panic buying in January. The squad out there should be good enough to avoid the drop. Hart should go, his heart isn't in it any more and the fans are on his case. I would go for Daniel Bentley of Brentford, only 24. I would also take from Brentford Ryan Wood, midfielder who always impresses me and again only 24, but I would take him on and give him a summer pre-season with us. Ive seen both these players regularly myself and my opinions are not based on media or Youtube videos.
Be nice to go back to plucking talent from the lower divisions, especially as our youngsters don't seem up to it.
(PS. Reserving judgement on Declan Rice. I'm not overhyping him like some are)

I heard Rafa wants hart this month. Surely westham, Newcastle and hart could come to some agreement? I doubt city will care as long as he isn't there!

Joe Allen midfield and make our marquee signing Carvalho... we need to improve our midfield - controversial but only Noble offers something right now. Legs may be gone but hes an intelligent footballer and the only one who can pass in midfield

But The tightarse owners will never part with the money. For me all the midfielders we have been linked with we are better of spending on one proper player than trying to sign mediocre ones to get us out of the relegation zone, someone that can take the game by the scruff of the neck and inspire the rest to lift their game. There are a few that show passion like Noble, Zaballeta and Adrian so a good midfielder with the ability of a Carvalho or such would be a confidence builder for others.

You don't know if he would fit into Premier League football and to bring him in, halfway through a season, in the middle of winter, and in a relegation battle would be a gamble in my opinion. (I consider this argument for any unproven Premier league foreign import actually). Should have bought him in the summer. Gold and Sullivan tried a bluff and it got called by Sporting.

Alfie mawson who if you believe the headlines we are interested in was quoted as saying he did not want to move and was not interested in one....now he is quoted saying he;s flattered to be linked with other clubs but he cant do anything about it....of course thats topped by the wonderful Harry Kane widely quoted as saying he does not want to leave the spuds and will sign for life as he loves the club..now being quoted as he'll stay but they had better win trophies or he will consider his future...ahhh gonna be winding up the spud fans today

What sort of contract is Rice on ? We better get him tied down if O 'Neil doesnt come in for he he can still sign for England and you know what that means ,three times the interest in him

all clubs do it and although we need strengthening in midfield it is refreshing that the usual scattergun technique that is sullivans transfer policy has been replaced by a cautious lets actually see if the player is the type we want/need by moyes....of course now wed looming fast on the horizon and more injuries than in an episode of strike back nerves are jangling a bit....will mario be able to cope with prem pace will we finally make offer for deaddonkey is it to be cairns from fulham or maddison from norwich...thats when things get annoying...it takes time for new players to bed in but instead of getting deals done and players settled clubs ours included continue with the cat and mouse game that is the transfer window...Palace on Tuesday then brighton get 6 points from those two matches we will be flying and not worried by the late deals etc....but if we only get the one in well we as our old friend used to say "we're down to the bare bones jeff"
