motivation

So what is it about our manager that just does not motivate our players? yesterdays shocking display aside why do our players just do not seem to have the stomach or a backbone for a fight..Bilic had said before the opening to the new season he expects to see a 100% commitment from the players but i saw no sign of it yesterday...we were ok until obiangs mistake after that the players attitude seemed to be ahh well thats the game gone and so it proved to be...no passion on the pitch bilic chatting to moanrino like it was a friendly and i think theres the rub Bilic is to nice...yes he has spats with players and banishes them from the team but that clearly does not work players sulk but still pick up there money and no sooner or later he will be replaced so why put effort in for him..maybe some players in the squad waiting for a chance are losing interest when they see us getting turned over regular and yet same players get picked week in week out with out a sniff of a chance....i ould find that hard to stomach myself and wonder what am i doing...well this coming week bilic and the players better show more than a 100% improvement and commitment because southampton away should hold no fear and they have not scored at home for something like 6 games and got a 0-0 with swansea we lose that and management and some first team players need to be rested for a long long time and others given a chance.

Not enough from the players, because they should be ashamed to play like that. (They should be ashamed of how they played in PRE-season, too!) And not enough from Slaven if he lets them get away with that kind of performance. I disagree with you that it was OK until Obiang's mistake. That certainly put the nail in it, but they were giving it away cheaply from the start.

I'd imagine apart from when he was new and a fresh face, Slav bores the sh1t out of players during team talks. He certainly has that effect on me during his interviews

i think the problem is that Bilic himself is far too laid back. its good to have that ability to see more important things when doing press conferences or avoiding tit for tat with journalists etc but lets not beat around the bush, he's paid millions to do a job and that job is to make sure the 11 players on the pitch at match time are motivated and ready. apart from the new boys i.e. zabaletta and hernandez and perhaps hart (didnt impress though) the rest had lost the game before it started again. we saw this sort of thing with Zola almost as if there has been a team meeting at the start of the season and Bilic points out the matches we should forget about…'Man U away first day, its Lukaku's welcome to old trafford, so lets stand aside and let them have their day..' I want my manager to be screaming at the players to see themselves as equals, to show the world on live t.v that this is a club that won't be cheering on anyones parade. go back to the Dons of old. everyone despised them, their long ball up to Fash, and the 'big' teams hated playing them. thats the attitude i want. i don't need players who can play like payet, id much rather have Julian Dicks and Martin Mad Dog Allen because i know even when we lose, those players will hate it, hate that we lost to Man U, hate that we conceded goals…and hate the Lukaku love fest at our expense.

We as a team need to adopt "small man syndrome " and bloody quickly. As a professional in sport whether it be as a coach manager or player we have to hate losing! Rightly we all abhor the diving and cheating that goes on in the game but it almost certainly came from a coach that wanted to gain an advantage and was happy to do what it took. I used to coach a couple of years back, starting with kids. I was always thinking how can these kids gain an advantage over others. I decided on 2 things 1 was always train with heavy balls and play a formation no one but U.S. We're familiar with. My point is we should always looking for something to give us an edge and don't just except things as they are. At the moment we are just excepting things as a club and not fighting back.

For the first 10 minutes we were going well and i said to myself "ello ello could be a upset here ",we were combatant knocking it about nicely ,Zab was sending nice balls down the flanks and then all of a sudden retreat ,drop back and defend as if they were flouting Slavs orders in trying to show some flair by getting forward and trying to get something ,from then on they bombarded us ,I'd like to know what manager in his right mind thinks its ok to go to the opponents ground ,especially O T and defend with the intentions of getting a point ,its not possible

yes you're right. was it lapses in the players or a lack of knowing what they needed to do? my biggest concern is that we're just playing the same way every match. some days we do o.k against a Stoke or WBA but its no good against teams with bigger squads and better players. where's the homework from Bilic? even allardyce had a game plan for times when our best players were out….does Bilic?

just hearing the same noises from Bilic today - they were better than us in all areas, we made mistakes, i expected more. well what about getting a bit more from yourself? teams are passing us by now and we're being left behind by new ideas from likes of Silva and Wagner etc. they play a pressing game that even big teams don't like. they don't sit back and admire mata and pogba spraying passes around and then say they were just too good. it infuriates me to hear that. its not a game of tennis at the local club where you lose and say oh well he's just a lot better than me…our manager and players are paid pro's, paid to not be totally outplayed by better players. sooner bilic gets this the better.
