its amazing no ones posting in defense of him , not even nt , what makes me sick is all the tv pundits , to a man they almost accuse west ham fans of treachery and not appreciating a good manager, i really like the show on sky Saturdays but on this issue their condescending remarks are offensive, they make out we don't know what we want and should marvel and be eternally grateful for a a top ten Finnish ,even Ian Dowie on Satanta last night was saying we are mad not to have tied him down by now , goes to show you what they really know about us , if you think the media panel's hate west ham now just wait till the end of the season when the taxi pulls up .
I think its only 2 or 3 things that need tweaking right now, the main one is bring Downing back to his role at the tip of the diamond and get rid of that geriatric Nolan , he was a revelation in that position , push Song much further up field , he's much to sluggish to play in front of the back 4,forget about Jarvis , his heart is in the right place but he's a one dimensional player , head down and run like f**k , whats bfs frightened of in bringing on subs whats the point in changing things when were well and truly beaten ," anal " and " Nemo"should be on from the start and forget about one up front , and lastly whats up with taking a risk on some of the younger guy's , was it Burnley or Sunderland yesterday who played a 16 year old and he's not even the youngest ever to play in the top bracket, think he's around the third youngest , makes our lads look like veterans , so sorry to be blunt Sam, thanks but no thanks , and take Nolan with you, your a left over from the seventy's, a dinosaur with outmoded ideas , a massive stubborn streak and the football brain of a Neanderthal

But as for the other pundits on sky- BBC I don't take much notice of what they say. I think they know about football but they are looking from the outside in. They don't watch West Ham ever week like what we do, to them they are just looking at the league table as were we are now. They just think we struggle ever season after season so as we aren't this season Sam is doing a great job. They don't see the poor tactics the poor timing of the subs playing players out of position so he can play his favourite players at the expense of the team. That's why I don't get upset I just think you really don't know what your talking about.

Thats exactly right bh.Having said that I have even heard some of the old Westham players like McAvennie ,who you would expect to have a bit more footballing savvy when they are talking about Westham, say what a fine job Allardyce is doing, and I'm thinking to myself are they really watching Westham every week?????? I don't think so somehow

They don't come much bigger for backing sam than Sir Geoff Hurst this was his tweet after the spuds draw......Sir Geoff Hurst @TheGeoffHurst · Feb 22
Another terrific performance against a top four team, who are these people that want Big Sam out? Be careful what you wish for WHU fans

Dowie's opinion I might take some notice of, but does even he watch all West Ham's games? Any of these pundits who aren't West Ham fans mean nothing to me, they all stick together with other people "in the business." When did you hear these pundits seriously criticise any player or manager, when did they say "yes this manager should be sacked?" NEVER. They are all just a bunch of gas bags.

I'm not pro-Allardyce or anti-Allardyce... I am PRO WEST HAM! These pundits are either saying that Sam Allardyce is the best manager in the world... or they are saying that we DON'T DESERVE a better manager. I can't agree.

That's about the size of it Dicksy: he's done the job he was employed to do, but he shows little sign that he can take us further. Unless we can have a great finish, replicating our early season form. than I think we say: "Thanks very much Sam, but we need to move on."

We have come along way under Allardyce, let us not forget that. I am grateful to Sam for what he has done and where he has taken us, but is the time right to make a change??

It is a big decision to make and one that will not be made lightly. The owners know that keeping Sam on will virtually guarantee Prem safety and stability for the last season at the Boleyn but it will also irk many of our fans as well. It wouldn't take much for the fans to make their voices heard even more than they have already.

A managerial change would take a lot of backing and finances from the owners. The right person would need to be put into place and as much as all of us fans having our own preferences (Bilic, Poyet, Maclaren, Laudrup, Howe) it is ultimately their decision. I'm not so sure there are many managers out there who could take us much further forward to be honest. Certainly not in a short space of time, which is what we need going into a new stadium.

Alot can change between now and the summer with regards to who is available but for me personally, I'd ride out another season under Allardyce and ensure we get to the new stadium in the right position in the league. Just got to be careful what you wish for.

Problem with that idea is it's a nailed on certainty that Sam wouldn't take a 1 yr contract. If he stays he wants to take us to the OS. If he goes the new man/woman (wouldn't that be a surprise?) needs to not only implement their ideas with immediate effect but identify the players that will take us the two steps forward to make the first season in the OS the major success it needs to be for us to really build and push on from.

You're absolutely right that the owners need to inject some more major cash too. With Sam at the helm we will not really attract the type of player that takes us forward and we'll have to endure more from Nolan which basically keeps you where you are in terms of progression.
I agree Sam has done a terrific job in getting us to where we are but his shortcomings are all to glaringly obvious to 35,000 fans every week and the multitudes watching on TV and it is time to say goodbye.
Final point. Be careful what you wish for? I don't think there's a fan out there that wants to see us go backwards again, our time to progress has to be now with the growth of the club. It's in the club's best interest to inject some new blood, with new ideas. Other clubs at the top chop and change their manager's to get the right one in. G&S have had ample time to assess the currrent state and the type of manager that can take us forward. the decision is ultimately theirs. Sticking with Sam, imo, is not an option they should be entertaining

Fair point moore2come, but I think the owners are seriously considering Sam as an option. Probably another 2 year deal as well. They will also be considering other avenues as well, but the investment in new staff and players will be extensive as well as a package for the new manager (depending on who they choose).

I can't see many options that they would take up for a new man in charge. The most likely candidate is probably David Moyes but he is hardly going to propel us forward is he? More of a sideways move. Other names mentioned are either not experienced enough (Howe, Bilic, Sheringham) past their best (Redknapp, Hoddle) or fanciful wishes (Benetiz, Ancelotti, Laudrup). So there doesn't seem to be many viable options IMO.

Gold and Sullivan don't have a big history of chopping and changing managers and neither do they spend big so that is why I think they may stick with Allardyce for the time being. It wouldn't be the end of the world if they did would it???

Having now read that Sam is keen to stay, my heart has sunk as I think about it a bit more. How long do contract negotiations with a manager usually take? What if they drag on and eventually he says no? Where are we left then with trying to get another man in and then them being able to get decent players in?

Unless G&S have decided he's not the man and tell him straight away after the season ends I have this horrible feeling that he will be in the chair come next season. Only negatives to that, as his best mate Nolan will remain, lump it forward will be the norm and he'll continue to court over the hill players like Darren Fletcher for short term benefits and no sell on value. Damn I'm depressed now!!

You make a fair point nt, he's given us more stability than any recent manager that we've had at the club, he's certainly done a job and realistically the chairmen won't take a chance on a new appointment

Totally feed up with hearing how grateful we should be to BFS. His track record is promotion by skin of teeth despite having the best squad in the chumps that year, a lucky win in the play off, Blackpool were the better side on the day and mediocrity in the Prem, disgraced in FA Cup and League cup last year and not much better this year, first manager ever to play a system with NO ONE up front, the ugliest football ever seen in C&B, a love affair with Nolan etc etc shall I go on? Fingers crossed he is on his way to Blunderland and I understand he will come between the earth and sun this morning... :o)

I've heard the same rumour from two different people both connected with the club, that he wants double money to stay on for 2 years. Basically taking him to £6 million a year, on a par with Mourinho. Sorry i want more for the £3 mill let alone doubling it!! You also know who'll get another 2 year contract extension at the same time don't you?

Hard to believe, unless he's looking for a face saving exit: he can say; "they wouldn't pay me enough," they can say: "he wanted too much." We all move on. Personally I still think it's not even close to being decided, and the remaining 8 games will play a big part in deciding which way it goes.

We could have built a better manager surely.

Ala steve Austin.

I do think he has at least 35% solid support of Hammers fans but that is not enough and yes I am making a number up but judging by fellow hammers mates and me looking at several hammers web sites I think It is clear that even his previous solid pragmatic defenders and supporters are saying exactly what Dicks is the man is saying IE, he has done a decent job but he cannot take us any further and we want more.

For a man that has got us to 9th spot this season and yet many fans still criticize him. When fans state "We need somebody who can us to the next level" but we also need a squad capable of moving on to the next level. Spending 27 million on transfers is not going to get you really high up the table, is it?. So to reach the next level we need money and we need to be spending at least 100 million each summer as that seems to be the way for top 6 teams. Loanies, freebies etc no matter who is at the helm, will still find it very difficult to achieve a high finish with them calibre of players. How much will we have to spend during this summer? Probably no more than what we spent last summer. So if we did sign jenkinson, and song that will cost us approx 18 million and that will leave us with 9 million left for players, not exactly aiming for the next level is it? Then players like nolan, o brien, collins, demmel, cole, jussi contracts are up in june as far as iknow and they will need to be replaced or contract renewed. Why are our expectations so high, considering we only attract loanies, freebies and spend so little in the transfer market?

Nolan' contract is until June 2016. I don't personally think that we need a great deal more in the squad to push for a Europa spot, just don't play Nolan. That's my expectation. But as long as the manager is there, he'll play for another year pumping it up to his mate looking for a knock down. What's in it for us as fans who pay to go and watch? So we can go down the pub with all our pals who support other teams and let them tell us how lucky we are? Thanks but no thanks. Play a full F'ing 11 players on a pitch, forgetting about appearance fees and get rid of Nolan, Cole, JOB, Jarvis and Demel. Elevate some of the kids to first team action and play like we did first half of the season. If he did that Allardyce could stay till he was 100.

So we dont need players but yet we must get rid of our back ups lol So what happens when our fitrst teamers get injured?? Did Nolan sign a 5 year contract?

They're yours and Alardyce's first teamers, not mine. Nolan - Poyet, Jarvis - Amalfitano, JOB - Burke/ Henry/ Chambers, Cole -Lee/Zarate. Do you actually watch West Ham at all or is all your knowledge Internet based?

Poyet, burke, henry, chambers, lee havent done anything really to be considered as good back ups. Zarate has only made 2 appearances for qpr so why is that?

How can they do anything if the don't start games. Nolan gets start after start and if he's breathing he sin the team. I really don't so what your argument is? Are you saying Nolan should be in the team or are you so besotted by Allardyce you go along with whatever he thinks?

up
248 users have voted.

I never said anything about Nolan should be in the team, your just trying to put words in my mouth. You only get involved with the team if you are good enough but youth go through a development process to gain experience, improve strength and conditioning etc It really takes up to 23 -24 years to be ready, some maybe younger. But you just dont through a youth player in and have their confidence destroyed which will ruin their career. I just dont understand how you can say these players should be our back ups that are no where near fully developed yet. Just remember James Tomkins was our last player to come through the youth set up which was back in 2007/08 season. So sam can hardly be fault with that. Sears, hynes, and stanlislas werent exactly players that set the world on fire, what is that saying about youth system maybe we need to acknowledge that our youth system is nowhere near to what it was years ago

Personally I have backed Sam since he first joined, but I feel he has taken as far as he can.Now is the best time to go as we need new and fresh idea's.This season he got extra lucky as I think he did not want Sakho,Zarate,Valencia etc and now Nene.Ithink he has lost the plot ,and bloody minded with Nolan and Cole and 451.As for all pundits who gives a toss what they say, this is OUR club.COYI'S.

But Sam does play valencia and he does play sakho so if he actually didnt want them then why is he playing them. Zarate has a bad attitude from what iheard and if this is the type of players we want representing our team then i am worried. Zarate has been struggling at qpr.Nene was unfit and is waiting to get up to match fitness. So sam was lucky to get promoted, lucky top 10, lucky to have stayed up and extra lucky to be 9th. He must be one lucky man lol
