for me, we should just take the 20 mill from marseille and send him back. we double our money on him and we get rid. if it drags to the end of the window and it closes we will be left with a player who will devalue rapidly from now to the summer, playing no football and in his 30's. i say 20 mill is a tidy sum, use it to buy one or two decent players and lets move this show on.

I read that the Marseilles offer was only £10M up front and a further £10M in add ons. If a Brentford striker is worth £15M then Marseilles' offer is just laughable. I also read that Payet was independently valued at £35M (and Antonio not far behind). Don't know if anyone else saw that. So even of Marseilles were offering £20M up front, that is way below his value. It's certainly way below his potential: we all saw last season, not only in our team but in the Euro's, what an incredible player he can be. He probably was not far off from player of the tournament; he was compared all the time with Ozil; and in our own song "he's better than Zidane" (I know that's hyperbole, but still, it underscores just how good he can be). He's hardly broken a sweat this season and now we know why, but we should not forget what he can do, as I am sure that other teams do not forget it. I really hope Sullivan holds firm and only takes an offer that meets his valuation. People have played hardball with us enough times, it is about time that West Ham didn't sell cheaply.
