WE NEED TO SPEND ON QUALITY

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Tue, 03/01/2017 - 07:24

we were cheated yesterday, there is no doubt. the game was over after 15 mins when man u then had the freedom of the pitch to tire us out. however when i saw the lineup v man u it struck me that actually we had little chance to be honest. man u are not great, mourinho overrates the side in the press after every match. going on and on about how great they are but soooo unlucky. truth is pogba isn't that good, ibrahimovic is old and rooney is dead to football. but when we lined up with antonio up front i just thought …we're finished. as a prem league side who is supposed to be established and with the move to a new massive stadium that promised us riches i find it embarrassing that we have to start a big match against Man U at home with a winger as our main striker. no disrespect to antonio at all…he's a darn good player but its clear why our season has fizzled out into a nothingness. our squad is just not good in a lot of areas. how long are we going to go without having some quality striking options? even if sakho was fit….sakho and carroll is still not enough. we have to buy and not zaza's brother…we need some quality that is proven in the english game. forget the youngsters…I'm talking of here and now goalscorers. they will now cost a fortune and will be thin on the ground…and i suppose this will be the noise from the owners again….so and so is in talks…oh its fallen through but don't worry we've got Jesus Gonzalez from south america who is a massive coup….hes on loan blah blah. No no no. If defoe can be prized away from sunderland great although i really doubt it as that will simply sign sunderlands death certificate. its not down to us to find the players…its down to the board and Bilic so they need to go out and get it done. no nonsense on twitter please we've had enough. send zaza back and sign some quality prem league players. cheers.

Getting Mike dean is less likely than getting Suarez and messi! He will cost a fortune but I do agree he consistently effects the outcome of a game. If we really want to compete seriously at champions league football we need to get people like dean, clattenburg and a few others as the can be worth 10 points or more a season just ask Man U and Liverpool.

As i've said before it's just not that easy. if the criteria is a proven striker at Premiership level, capable of guaranteeing 15 goals+, they won't be available. Aguero, Sanchez, Costa, defoe, Giroud, Lukaku, Kane, Vardy, Ibrahimovic and Rooney, won't be coming to West Ham anytime soon. So what you're asking for is impossible. Then you look at other players like Wilson, Ramirez, Benteke, Rondon, Martial, why would they want to leave where they are to come to us? What do we have to offer more than the clubs they're already at? However the majority of those strikers have all come from outside the Prem and been massive stars, so actually maybe the tactics of lets get Jesus Gonzales , he's the next Tevez, may work? Or maybe we could promote form within. Martinez is banging in the goals in the Prem 2, Samuelson, couldn't be any worse than Feghouli, Tore, Callieri who have all had chances?

Nothing will convince me that the club can't buy, persuade a top prem proven right back to the club of quality! Yes we need a striker but if we buy quality in places we are short in we are still gona improve the team! But how long has this problem been left? Last rb of any real quality I remember was Lucas Neil. It bad management, running of a club to let it go on so long!

Define top ten right back? Well one that can hold his own as one of the top ten right backs in the league on a regular basis

I agree with you betty, the amount of ppl I see on here and other sites who think we can just jump to the top player with bags of experience in their prime is beyond me. - as a club we are not at that level where we can buy top proven players out of their contract and attract them, especially without euro football. we need to look at players who are unproven at prem level and that is always a gamble, sometimes it pays off(Antonio) & sometimes it doesn't(zaza) --- I see people say no to Scott Hogan whos got bags of goals in the championship which is one of the top leagues in Europe but are open to promoting Martinez whos scoring for the ressies, correct me if I'm wrong but those leagues are miles away from each other in terms of quality. -- Loans and short term deals are the most sensible deals at this time of year

Give some examples? Is it really worth it as its all opinions. Having said that since g and s arrived how many decent rb that could play in the top 10 have moved from the likes of soton, palace, burnley etc which we haven't even been in for plus very good squad players we can compete for from top teams? Just off top of my head I could mention trippier whilst at burnley, Clyne at palace or soton. Is it ok to suggest we are not in the league to sign top players when the board have at times said we can and that within a few years we want champions league?

Ok but we did that with Cresswell and it worked last year, so what's your point? We tried with Bryan and it didn't work, or hasn't yet. Your picking holes that aren't there. Clyde worked out, yea, but didn't Cresswell from Ipswich, or Antonio from Forest? My point about a decent RB is you'd have to name top 6 club RBs and they ain't coming to West Ham mate. However much you think chucking money at them etc.. they ain't coming

Without going round in circles on this argument, I'll go on a slight tangent and ask why we can't have those players you think aren't coming? The board have more or less told us we can when they site champions league and marquee centre forwards in the rubbish they spout! Is it any surprise fans are getting ideas above the clubs station? It starts from them! When you talk about champs league most of you signings need to be established not punts! I'm all for the cresswells and antonios but if we are genuine big time like Brady and Sullivan want us to believe we should expect to attract players for a top six club. That means spending money whether we like it or not. A more instant player in other words. I love having the old 1 or 2 gambles but you should expect at least a season or two to come through. In short sulli and brads mouths are writing cheques their bank balance can't or won't cash. Only an opinion of course but are we really to believe we can't attract a right back from the top six that isn't getting much playing time? The old West Ham might but this is supposed to be the new West Ham. Right backs are not held onto like gold dust and don't cost obscene amounts but we wouldn't even spend 7 mill on ifora in the summer. Ok he may not be the answer but surely if we are a serious contender for top six at least we should be willing to spend 10 mill on a good right back. What is the most the 2 Daves have spent on a first team right back?

See I don't even know who Ifora is? Is Glenn Johson or Jenkionson good enough? If they are then you've defined a decent rb, if not then I don't know how you think we'll get. When city bought Yaya Toure, Aguero, Liverpool Suarez, Coutinho, Friminho, Arksnal Sanchez, Chelsea Hazard and Costa, these were all either unknowns or if you new your European football good players at smaller clubs. Only hindsight says they're any good. We could've got lucky and Tore, Feghouli, Callieri, Zaza and Nordveit could've all been world beaters. You can only make a decision on what you know now or see, other than that all players are guess work. Last point on this from me as I'm sure you're bored of me by now. Torres £50 million to Chelsea a total flop. Proven goal score at this level couldn't make a move from NW to London.

But you're original post you said we need someone that is proven in the English game. payed before we bought him was who? I'd never heard of him.same with Tevez. Di Canio was a real gamble because of his temperament. That's the market we're in until we get into the Champs League and that requires us either spending about £150 million and the other top four going backwards. Look at Leicester, in the Champs League and have sold one of their best players and brought in who? we're just not in the same market as those top clubs, move or no move. if we do ever get there it won't be one transfer window either. Agree about Negredo btw say it every week I watch Boro play

The title of your post says it all WE NEED TO SPEND. But as usual we will be looking for loans I suppose so unlikely to get anyone that can add anything to the team

When we have which isn't often it has paid off very well. AC was the last time and the one before him was Dean Ashton. Sadly we've been incredibly unlucky with injuries to both and this has been hard for the club to take at times when debt has been out of control. The "wonder" move to the Olympic stadium is supposed to elevate our profile and create funding. If this is the case Dean Ashton mkII would be great please and preferably the one with bionic ankles.
