Be Careful What You Wish For-Hull City

In January of this year Hull city FC were well set for a play off place, they were eighth in the Championship and they just needed an extra push for the chance to re-join the Barclays Premier League, so what happened to their charge? Put quite simply, money, but here's the rub, in an attempt to replenish their bank account temporarily, Hull City made the cardinal error of not being content with what they had.

And so it came to pass...having relied heavily on one player to get them where they were, from a goal scoring perspective why would they then sell their source of goals? But sell him they did, consequently Jarred Bowen will be lining up alongside his new West Ham team mates for Friday's crucial game against Watford while Hull City now face the very real prospect of relegation to the third tier of English football. The £22 Million Hull received for Bowen is 'small potatoes' compared with the riches on offer in the top flight, it is a sale they will regret for many years.

As has been seen on many occasions, relegation from the Barclays Premier League isn't the end of clubs and their supporters suffering, Sunderland are a prime example of what can happen as they dropped down from the top flight to the third in consecutive seasons. If the Irons need focusing a glance in the Black Cats direction might focus their minds.

The Irony that it was Wigan, another poorly run club that has just entered administration with it's consequent 12 point deduction, that beat Hulll City EIGHT nil will not have escaped the attention of long suffering Latics fans. Sunderland Wigan and Hull are all examples of clubs who were once on the top flight that are now finding it nigh on impossible to get even close to a return to the 'promised land' that is the Barclays Premier League.

If David Moyes men need incentivizing, which they should not, then they need only look at what happens when your club goes down the 'worm hole'. - Ed

I didn't mention Bolton or Blackburn, neither did I mention the struggles that Leeds, West Brom, Nottingham Forest and Derby have had in trying to get back up, it should be rememebered that Derby and Forest both won the equilavalent to the Champions League!

Do not have there own ground and plummeted down the leagues only for Mark Robins to perform miracles with loan signings and good coaching and management to get them back up into the championship a remarkable achievement...

I would say the incentive is always there for all to see,but i wonder as a club, can it be seen,or bothered about,or just happy to always scrape in the back door, because every season we just languish at the bottom, which is so frustrating being we were promised the world by coming to the BOM!!!! It seriously Fecks me off!!!! Year after Year!!!!

feel your pain buddy. I have said previously the "problem" was having such a great last season at UP, we tend to forget a lot of the crap times that we have seen at the BoM.... which are in fact for West Ham the norm :o(
