What Is It With Hammers And Expensive Wingers? Could This One Work?

West Ham have apparently agreed a deal to take winger Michail Antonio, who is currently undergoing a medical, from Nottingham Forest, for a fee believed to be around £6 Million, but with add ons that could push the eventual price up to an eye watering £8 Million, for a Championship player! The last time West Ham United forked out a similar sum for a Championship player was to buy winger Matt Jarvis from Wolves, which has not turned out to have been the best of deals by anyone's imagination.

1962 was the last year Hammers got a result at Anfield, certain members of the Org staff were 6 years old, others a distant twinkle in their father's eye! It is only half time, but the game so far shows that Slaven Billic is an astute manager for AWAY games, where his propensity for a solid defence that allows his teams to hit on the break is a potentially winning formula.

What Is It With Levy And West Ham?

As Daniel Levy puts the brakes on Emmanuel Adebayour's move from Tottenham to West Ham for a second time, it is worth considering why the Spurs supremo has such an apparently pathological dislike for the Irons? The roots of the problem stem from way before the Olympic Stadium bidding process, but why? Tottenham, rightly or wrongly, have always thought of themselves as a top club who have the history, wealth and negotiating power to 'plunder' players from less well financed teams than themselves.

More Off The Wages Bill As Maiga Does A Runner!

Modibo Maiga's spurious departure from West Ham to Al Nasser has at least helped balance the books. Hammers will save £3 Million in wages alone, while the player and his new club will face FIFA sanctions if Maiga plays before his ITC comes through. West Ham are in a particularly strong situation and will milk the law that says a contracted player cannot move from one club to another without agreement of all parties concerned.
Maiga's cheeky departure will have only exacerbated the need to bring in at least two more strikers before tuesday's transfer dead line! - Ed

Lots of media coverage about Kevin Nolan's departure from West Ham United, here is a player who was given a ridiculously long five year contract on his transfer from Newcastle United, courtesy of Sam Allardyce, sanctioned by the Hammers hierarchy. If 'Nobby' had had a cockney accent and not been directly associated with Sam Allardyce, then it is quite safe to assume he would have gone down as one of West Ham United's best captains, his presence and stabilising powers were omnipresent during his initial tenure as captain.

Update, Is It Valencia Or His Agency Ungeklärt Talking ?

Enner Valencia has hit the headlines recently because of his 'displeasure' at not being offered a second opinion regarding whether or not he should have surgery to speed up his recovery from injury. However, the 'quotes' don't come directly from the player himself but via his agency, Ungeklärt. The only 'quote' was from Ecuadorian radio station La Deportiva's gossip section which 'quoted' “West Ham seem to have forgotten that I’m injured, but they don’t let me speak to another doctor. I don’t understand why West Ham doctors are doing this to me.
