David Sullivan and the Hierarchy's pet site didn't waste much time in coming up with a way to 'explain' the party line, one that was as predictable as it was onerous. A mandate which infers that they, GSB, have done their upmost to 'satisfy' the 'hyper inflated' demands of their in demand talisman. The tone being that Declan Rice's representative, his Dad, is demanding a wage that is commensurate with a player of much greater reputation and ability.

Any of several elite clubs would pay the sort of money being asked for without batting an eye lid, the maths are simple, even if the club had offered Rice £150,000 per week and it was rejected, and say increased the offer to £175,000 per week, the increased outlay, in addition to his original wage, would be around £6 Million.

Rice's value will go up by at least that amount in the next year, probably more, therefore it makes sense for the club to bite the bullet to at least retain Rice's services for a further two years, or before that if a replacement can be found or brought through the Academy or U-23's.

It's a dog eat dog world among clubs vying for players, but releasing 'snide' information about one of your own players in order to appear the injured party, is lower than the gutter itself. It's enough to to make you wangt to spew your claret!! -Ed
