Does Pellegrini Rate Snodgrass Or Is He Just Valeting Him?

Robert Snodgrass has played in all of West Ham United's three friendly matches thus far, giving the impression that manager Mauel Pellegrini sees something he likes about the 30 year old Scottish international. We have been stern critics of Snodgrass on this site, not because we dislike him as a human being, far from it, it is not his fault that he was an overpaid for panic buy who was played out of position during his brief tenure with the club before being sent out on a season's loan to Aston Villa.

Snodgrass is the exact opposite of the 'El Pel' prototype player, his age and mobility don't do him any favours, but there are many thousands of Aston Villa fans who would welcome him back to their club in a heart beat so he can't be that bad. So, possibly incorrectly, we can only assume that 'Snoddie' is being given game time to put him in the shop window ahead of the soon to close transfer window, if he is not going to leave the club then where will he be played? Unless he is deemed to be a good squad player as back up we can only see an exit on the horizon for him, but then again we are talking about West Ham!

i think like Hart at citeh and peps praise for him they are clearly trying to move him on but with Snodgrass its a tough one because our squad despite the marvellous transfer window we are having is still paper thin in areas and maybe el pel is checking all options before making a decision...if villa come back in for him now they have super rich backers I would let him go otherwise a squad filler until jan and someone may panic buy like we did

Ill go with the fact hes spent hes entire career bar 6 months playing in the championship and league one. El Pel has also played Byram in pre season but hes still getting sold.

I agree with the comments so far. Also agree with DITM that Snoddy is better than what we've seen. That said I would not put him in the first 11. I think what Pel is doing is hedging: if a good enough offer comes in he may sell, otherwise keep for squad. Behind the scenes, though, it's likely that SUGO would like to recover at least some of their outlay. They should resist that temptation: if Snoddy is sold on for good value, the money should be invested in the squad -- either way we need players.

Seen him on the tell you for Villa a couple of times , doesn't do anything for me ,can't seem to hold up the ball or ride any sort of tackle

Snodgrass would be good to have on the bench ie impact player but if the right price comes in then sell only for the right price same goes for kyoute/ obiang/ ried/ as for byram i would only loan him out as we would need him next season

Having read Pellegrini's pressers from earlier today, it doesn't look like a good fit.
The manager states a paunchant for fast technical players, from what I've seen of Snodgrass he has a different skills set.

Would not be broken-hearted if he went to Cardiff or Wolves I think that is about his calibre we paid 10.75 for him and he's supposed to be on £70,00 a week so get rid and spend the money on a keeping Rice and getting another forward Someone like Soloman Rondon or another striker on loan cos I dont think we are going to see Carrol this season. Drinkwater was supposed to be surplus to requirements if we need a DCB as a replacement for Reid but I dont think we need Snodgrass not even as a Squad player
