Lambs to the Slaughter Or Silence Of The Lambs?

The time for pontificating is over as the new season begins for 'new look' West Ham with a tricky opening fixture against Liverpool at what will be a 'pumped up' Anfield Stadium. The Pool are one of the few teams to have spent more money during the transfer window than the Hammers, they've pushed the boat out for a replacement keeper and centre back, the only fly in their ointment is the amount of players who have only recently returned to training due to the presence of so many of their players at The World Cup in Russia.

Expectations will understandably be high among both sets of supporters given how much cash has been splashed, but getting new players to gell is an artform in itself, and both Jurgen Klopp and Manuel Pellegrini will be hoping their new players hit the groung running with each club featuring as many as five new faces in their starting line ups. Ex-Stoke City team mates Marko Arnoutovic and Xherdan Shaqiri will be on opposing sides for this match which could be tasty!

As everyone knows football is not played on paper, but on paper this match looks enthralling and it could be a classic! - Ed
