Lucky Hammers Dodge A Bullet As Dzeko Favours A Move To Inter

Some West Ham fans will be disappointed on hearing the news that apparent transfer target, 'veteran' striker Edin Dzeko, has indicated that he would prefer a move to Inter Milan instead of to London Stadium, however the vast majority that we have heard from indicate their extreme pleasure that the club have dodged a bullet by NOT signing the 33 year old. The Roma striker is apparently desperate to sign for Inter, and will turn down any offer from West Ham in order to push through a move to the Nerazzurri.

Inter have reportedly put in an offer of €15 million for the Bosnian forward, whereas Roma value the player at around the €25 million mark, in our opinion both valuations are way over the top and that is before considering the player's stratospheric wage demands! Perhaps Dzeko might have been a good signing, but he would have no sell on value at the end of the three year contract his representatives are demanding, Christiano Ronaldo he isn't!

Surely the penny must have dropped to the Hammers hierarchy, Manuel Pellegrini and Mario Husillos that West Ham United cannot afford the 'damage' caused by signing 'ageing' layers, that is not to say that the club cannot afford to pay decent wages, in fact Hammers are right up there with the top six when it comes to wages paid out. A cursory glance at the current, soon to be massively overhauled, squad reveals some of the 'drain' of the club's resources, Andy Carroll, Winston Reid, Jack Wilshere and Carlos Sanchez have made a combined total of less than a dozen appearances thus far this season, their weekly wage bill? £350,000, a staggering £17.5 Million by the end of the season!

Hammers cannot and should not afford to bring in players who are over 30 years old or those who are injury prone, we omitted Yarmolenko from the 'sinners' list, but even he had a history of injuries, the point is that any player can get injured but some get injured more than others! It is quite simply a matter of due diligence, bearing in mind the sums banded around there is a case for employing a 'medical sports supremo' who has absolute power when it comes to assessing the fitness of potential signings.

West Ham United cannot compete financially with the 'elite' clubs yet, but better application when it comes to acquisitions would see the club get a 'bigger bang for it's bucks', both Wolves and Watford have shown teams can punch above their weight in the Barclays Premier League, so why can't West Ham join the 'W' triumvirate? Old or perennially injured players should become a thing of the past, the cracks have been papered over so many times there's nowhere left to fill! - Ed

Exactly that, not one will contemplate stepping out on the new Hallowed Carpet for us,so we just wait for the next over the hill player to be linked to us,to see out his twilight football career, hoping to enhance his pension plan.

Lol 65,they are though aren't they, all last chancers, that we go for.Your right in saying that we need to bring through a hidden gem, like Rice, but in striker form, not go out and bring in another Zaza.Talking of expectations from the Porn Boys,i was at the game Saturday,"The Claret And Blue Day",and the grand first display of the "Carpet",which didn't warrant any promotion at all,but the so called fireworks when the teams came out, were like indoor fireworks in a bucket,as much sparkle as a dog end,it was really tame to say the least, proper limp, when you've got the others up the road opening their own Billion Pound Stadium, and we are celebrating a Carpet!!!
