Price Mystery For Europa League Tickets?

Very strange that the club sent out text messages yesterday stating that the exclusive 'window' for season ticket holders to buy tickets for Hammers Europa League fixture would end at 11am on feb 18th, however when we went to buy tickets last night, a good 16 hours before the 'deadline' we found that one of our season ticket seats had ALREADY been sold!

Apart from feeling mightily miffed that we will probably have some 50/50 scarf wearing tourist next to us, we were made aware the ticket prices were* 'SUBJECT TO CHANGE'. We called the ticket office who assured us that our tickets would not go up in price, but that there was EVERY possibility the prices would go up once the team's opponents are known following the two legged play offs to enter the last sixteen.

When asked if it means prices will go up substantially for those tickets made available for general sale, we were told they most probably would go up, especially if Hammers are drawn against 'Premium' opposition like Barcelona which couldn see a 40% price hike.

In modern football pricing, that would mean the tickets would still be far cheaper than at other Premier League clubs, such is the advantage of having a massive stadium that, while not being fully fit for purpose, is not a financial DEAD WEIGHT against the club's resources ala Arsenal & Tottingham. -LN
