I know it's too early to say but

I know it's too soon to say but I have my doubts whether Andy Carroll can really fit into the way the team currently want to play. He did look a fish outa water on Monday which made me wonder. It's completely unfair to judge him on that as he isn't match fit and has had a long lay off, but casting my mind back to how he played under big Sam there has to be question marks. I believe he will have to evolve and adjust. So my question is can anyone see Andy fitting in as he is if so maybe you can convince me how without changing our style for him!

Difficult one for me, he's at his best when he's getting on the end of crosses or long balls, his mobility isn't great, he certainly won't run the channels like Sakho does so are we going to be changing our style to accommodate him like Sam Allardyce did, I hope not. I think he'll make a good impact sub if we need a goal but he didn't get in the Liverpool side for similar reasons, he's not great with his feet, so would we be worth trying to keep him fit and offload in January?

You're right it was a decent goal, not seen him score many like that though, I don't see him fitting into a footballing side, I think if he plays then you need Moses/ Lanzini or Antonio to be supplying him with crosses, Sakho would still be my striker of choice

Ooo some good comments, mainly agree with all of them.but to me it just opens more questions. For a start Andy if fit can offer flexibility for us but I don't see that in much more than a bit part? Would he really want that? He is a lot slower now, than the speed we attack so how much does he really offer? As has been said he won't run the channels that sakho does (thought sakho was brilliant against castle but may have been under appreciated by the crowd) can we get the crosses we need into Carroll? That would be down to Lanzini,Antonio Moses and maybe Valencia cant see any of those being renowned for their crossing. Dicksis the man suggests we have to change our style to suit him but my thoughts are we need to meet each other half way. Formation changes and plan B really should come from suttle small changes that don't change the flow of the team, which takes me back to original post.

Of course we might not need to worry anyway, does anyone think he'll stay fit for any period of time, it'll break tradition if he does

Gives the gaffer options, i think slav loves to have options ,every opposition is different Carroll can be devastating for defences ,he'll drag defenders every where and knock balls down for our little whipets

Carroll has to fit in with the way Bilic wants to play, NOT the other way round. It's one (sensible) thing to try to use his strength and abilities to the utmost, but it's quite another, and would be totally wrong to make him the focus of our footballing style. IF he plays fantastic, stays fit for 6 months, score 20 goals, THEN we might start thinking about him being our No.! striker. NOT before.
