You hear all season about the need for a winter break the players are knackered the constant stream of games fixture congestion blah blah blah and after such a long hard season its time to give the players a well earned rest so spuds fly off to hong kong and Liverpool to Australia for an END OF SEASON TOUR!! excuse the language but W.T.F is all that about?? ahh yes money so please please please if you ever get a chance to see a prem manager or owner and they start to say we need a winter break just tell them to do one as all a winter break would mean is flying off round the world to make money for he club and not give players the REST the poor dears need.ok I will step off my soapbox now

Am I allowed to say rugby is a better game. I want that twat Costa to play just one game of rugby and see how hard he is.

Timmy have to agree with your rugby point. ATM I'd much rather watch the rugby (Union of course) you can really get into it a lot more than you can football nowadays. Almost everything in football is false and the fa, and FIFA are happy for it to be so as long as their gravy train keeps flowing. Not sure you can call it a gentlemens game tho, but is far more respectful than football has become.

I guess they feel it's worth it just to lay eyes on a Premier League team, but the quality of the football was very poor. I'd much rather see a game of rugby league; speaking of which the monster State of Origin clash is on next week ... Have a lot of sympathy for Timmy D's point. If I wasn't a West Ham fan for life, I might think of enjoying a different game entirely.

I played a bit many many years ago it didn't seem so physical in them days ,maybe that was because i was stuck out on the wing freezing my bollox off for most of it ,when you watch it now you think "what do their bones feel like the next morning after all those hits "

FACT. There are currently more Rugby players banned for the use of performance enhancing drugs than in any other sport in the UK.
Yeah, Rugby really has taken the moral high ground hasn't it.

If anyone has played either sport, you'd have to say that rugby is stilll a man's game. Football has now become a spectacle rather than a real sport. I'd go as far to say that hockey is tougher. There aren't any Prem teams with those hard men in midfield anymore. If someone treads on their shoelace they're writhing in agnoy, its embarrassing. I now only watch West Ham live and don't pay much attention to the other games. I'd rather watch rugby union or even league.

I cringe when our so called footballers turn their back to stop a ball instead off facing the ball to stop it, if they kicked a ball we used to play with it would break there ankle

Totally agree, these players have no shame, they must know that their diving and cheating will be highlighted on MOTD or whatever even thought these tv 'pundits'. are too shit scared to come out and say Yeah Gary, the cheating twat dived. Be great if the big screen showed it to the players and crowd during the game. Likewise Betty I only bother with the West Ham games and don't give a shit about the Burnley/Everton, West Brom/Man United games. I will always look out for Saints though as my local team and son's team. Southampton is only 25 minutes or so from Andover but when they play the mighty Hammers, all that nonsense counts for stuff-all.

Yep only interested in our games now don't really watch England either. Players don't even get mud on their knees in games now. Anyone who can look so perfectly turned out AFTER a game isn't playing a sport in my opinion. If it wasn't for West Ham I wouldn't watch football. Looking forward to the England Argie rugby even tho it's practically a scratch side.

Boys catch uo on the lions highlights from today. We lost to a very good Auckland side, but total commitment and a bruising encounter.

No structure, conflicting gameplans, poor selection and missing the most important component (BV).
However, it sells lots of red jerseys and people can eulogise about the past, fills paper columns and brits can pretend to like each other for 5 weeks so crack on.

agreed Billy is a big loss. I'm forever hopeful, one thing we won;t see is a capitulation and giving up. usually in rugby the best team wins and like you i expect the same this time around. i still love it though
