maiga

Not everyone's favourite but came on and looked lively. Could he perhaps be a decent player in the fast paced high tempo style? Under sam he was being asked (on few occasions he played) to be the hold it up player rather than the run onto the pass player. Thoughts?

Many of our 'fringe' players will hopefully get a new lease of life under Slav. It's obvious Sam picked a team to suit his unadventurous style otherwise Zarate (to name one) would've featured more. One game
does not make a season but the style and attitude from all
makes me very optimistic....an emotion alien to this West Ham fan.

Interesting that the subs yesterday were the 3 players most of us have been suggesting need to be moved on! Slav is obviously his own man!

Did you see him last week in Europe? He was embarrassingly bad, and yesterday he did a job in running around closing people down but they were chasing the game and not doing a very good job of it so he has to be replaced. The others have to go also, Jarvis has never made his mark and Nolan is limited in what he can bring to the Team now, so we have to move forward.

Shoud be moved on!My heart nearly stopped when zarate was taken off for jarvis, then nolan came on & then maiga!I thought "f*ck me whats he doing",but to be fair all three did something in 10/15 minutes that i havnt seen much of in 2 years!!They actually played ok!!;)

Not a fan of Jarvis but I think he could be useful if Bilic can drill in to him to stop crossing it at every point. Thought bringing him on for zarate was harsh on zarate but shows how tactically astute Bilic is especially compared to the dinosaur. In how Bilic reacts to the situation in front of him e.g Wenger brought on Sanchez so we bought on Jarvis to provide more help for tomkins down the wing.

I think that's exactly right. Jarvis is quick and works hard, a fresh pair of quick legs was exactly what was needed at that point. Apparently Zarate was seen querying the bench as to why he was taken off, had he done anything wrong? He has to accept that it's a squad game and at times other players will be a better option than him. It's his fragile ego I worry about most...

Don't see much of you now. And Bully think your right about Zarate the boy does seem to have a bit of a attitude.

Said elsewhere Zarate will be a test of Bilic management, undoubted talent but can it be sustained over a full season without problems. I was delighted with the substitution, showed awareness and pragmatism. Jarvis is quick, works hard as stated, better equipped to track likes of Walcott and pace offers an outlet. He has become frustrating but does possess ability, really think he is better on the right than left, also think crossing is what he has been instructed to do. If Slaven can get the best out of him he is worth keeping, we don't have a massive squad and he wouldn't bring in big money.

i cannot believe this bullshit about Zarati , ive never been aware of any attitude and even if he has i think the way he was treated by Mr Alidiyce i wouldn't blame him , once in a blue moon a player comes along that that is really talented and all you lot can do is crib about him , i think P D C might have been a challenge to managers but he did ok , cop on

I was under the impression I was allowed to express an opinion. Certainly PDC was a challenge to managers, many didn't manage it, the fact that Zarate has the talent he does yet hasn't really blossomed anywhere surely amplifies the point! If Slaven Bilic can get the best out of him on a consistent basis I will be delighted.

i was reading about him on Wiki and there's no indication of any attitude problems , since hes been in the prem Birmingham , West ham and QPR he's be fucked over by different clubs , including ours , give him a chance , let him do his own thing , sure he must have his faults , what player hasn't but im fully convinced he'll be an outstanding player , just as i was about Carlton .lol

I would love him to do well, I always want our players to succeed, certainly rather be wrong about something and see us do well than right and see us struggle. I think he has the most skilful touch at the club, but he doesn't seem to have nailed it anywhere, even a struggling QPR where Harry was manager and will usually tolerate a character if they are doing the business. I also remember seeing him put through shortly after coming on as a sub last season and moving like an arthritic snail with a heavy bag of shopping. However he looks fitter this season so hope springs eternal, he did look like he had the hump when he was taken off Sunday, which is fine as long as he gets over it. I hope Slaven is the manager that brings the best out of him, however, even at his best I think he needs to be off another striker or behind the front two so with Valencia having a potentially serious injury and Carrolls injury record I really hope we have a plan B. As for Carlton , if successive managers had realised he needed a partner and not play up top on his own he would have been more successful, I think he was a great servant and will remember him well if only for the play off final

Did better than they have done in the past . But in saying that I think all 3 need to be moved on as we need better players sitting on the bench to bring on .

i was going to post the exact same as dicksy , no really i was , yesterday he seemed to fit in a lot better, Sam had him coming in from everywhere whereas yesterday he was more a pivotal striker , give him a chance i say , i'll never forget the adulation he recieved from all of us when he scored that hat trick a couple of years ago

I know a shite player when I see one and he has steam coming out of his ears and off the top of his head, wrong comments and why are you both so desperate?

As a striker I think Maiga is abysmal plain and simple, doesnt have the footballing brain for it. Attacking midfield on other hand could be a different story. Coming in from deep he seems to much better and in a fast paced game he can take people on to be fair to him Maiga does have a decent shot on him. But offload him asap imo cuz theres no place for him in either position.

He just doesn't want the ball - you look at other strikers and they scream for it even when there other players in better positions! When he receives it to feet he has nowhere to go and he never manages to get on the end of crosses - he just doesn't have the same fire or determination. I think we let go of the wrong man in Carlton - for all his detractors and his low scoring ratio, he still scored goals and troubled the defence with a physical presence!
