Good of the club to give Marky a testimonial in what is a rare show of loyalty in todays money orientated climate, even better that the proceeds will go to charity. Having been to many testimonials for our players, "Ticker" Boyce (Man Utd), Bobby Moore (Celtic: What a game THAT was), Billy Bonds, Patsy Holland (Both Tottenham), Lamps Snr (Fulham), Trevor Brooking (England XI) I'm a bit disappointed to see the club couldn't come up with something better than an old stars team. So I tried to think of a team that would tempt me to the ground on a Bank Holiday Monday:-
GK: Rob Green
RB:Repka?
CB:Rio Ferdinand
CB:Manuel DaCosta
LB:Paul Konchesky
L Mid:Diamante
Mid:Lampard Jnr
Mid: Scott Parker
R Mid: DiCanio
Forward: Tevez
Forward:Bobby Zamora
Managed by erm...........
Thoughts?

We are upgrading the server over the new year's break in time for the match against Liverpool, until then no new topics can be posted, but comments can be. Sorry for this but it is required! - Ed

A rare show of loyalty is an interesting statement, I suppose he could've moved onto Leeds if he would've been prepared to take a drop in wages, I think the money going to charity is an indication of where the game is now, in years gone by this was a pension top up for the players, no need for that anymore

Im so set in the 1970s that i just assumed a testimonial was like you say a players pension!! But obviously no need nowadays...though its a nice touch from nobes to donate to his fave charities.

So happy for Nobes. I hope people will turn up for the game. My favorite West Ham player although not the best, but has given his best for the cause for more than a decade. Hope Tomkins will also make it for a testimonial the guy is a solid Hammer.

So far the testimonial is shaping up nicely. Carlton, Jimmy Walker, Rio Ferdinand, Trevor Sinclair and of all people Ravel Morrison ( I wasnt expecting him to be invited, but hey it will surely be more entertaining with him on board) People are saying that Di Canio and Joe Cole will join the party as well. Really do hope Carlos Tevez gets back for just this one game. Who else do you think will join in - captain Kev, Linda, Parker, Repka, Bobby Z, Mullins, Sheringham, Lucas Neil, Greeno. Man I would love to see some of the better players we had in the last 10/15 years at West Ham for this one. Just writting some of the names fills me up with joy!

It says it will be on the 28th of March which is not the best situation really as lots of players will be playing the last few games of the season which could be vital for their clubs like Zamora at Brighton for instance.

Maybe maybe not. Usually March is one of the least busy months for clubs due to cup games and an international break

In the meantime Gary O'Neil and Dean Ashton have also confirmed that they will take part. Oh Deano just thinking how it could have gone for him ..

Dean Ashton-a career cut short training for England!!He would have been an absolute goal-scoring legend for us...such a pity,im sure the hammers faithfull will give him a big reception!!

both on the same wavelength on Aston, I would think 10 - 15 mins wouldn't kill him, saying that I went to Tony Carr's testimonial and if I remember right Di Canio played for BOTH sides that evening :-)

Always felt Ashton would have been the best English striker for decades. Infact I can't think of anyone I'd expect to be better than him if he had stayed fit. Really something special
