We all think our team is the best as fans and therefore messi, Neymar and Ronaldo should be begging us to sign them. Realistically however at best we can be known as a club on the rise and maybe going places. This brings me nicely to the 2 marquee signings mentioned by sulli that we will sign this season. Well what is a marquee signing? I'm damn sure we won't all agree what constitutes that! High profile, tick, pay decent money, tick, puts bums on seats? I think anyone who cost over 20 mill would classify as that to sulli, but IMO the real big guns won't see us as viable yet. So what do we need to improve us upfront? Someone proven goal scorer over a few seasons, maybe prem proven? Someone who fits nicely into the way we want to play and most definately someone who stays fit for most of the season and available. Ok we are looking for players that excite us but this won't. Anyone consider giroud? If vardy signs for arse I see giroud as a promising fit for us. Much rather than Walcott! I don't see this as marquee myself but I do think it would be a decent call.

RNI gooners style makes it hard for him and he does miss a number of chances but a player to get excited over mmm not for me....the reason behind the so called marquee signing is to get everyone talking about the club and the money such a signing generates.....personally i'd be happy with another summer of signings like last year....Lanzini well who had heard or thought of him payet lets be honest nobody expected what happened Antonio a last min gamble well lets have another yeah I know I bore everyone with my shouting for us to sign brit assombalonga but I just feel he is worth the gamble.....but my marquee signing in all seriousness would be schmeichell from Leicester...if vardy goes and kante and mahrez well they are going to plummet down the league and kasper for me is the keeper we need...Adrians a great shot stopper but I still have my heart in my mouth sometimes when he's got the ball at his feet....just M.O but I guess we shall see when dust has settled

I agree giroud won't excite anyone but I'm hoping / expecting our marquee to be in a position we are weak in that needs strengthening and that IMO has to be rb or striker and maybe lm. Asombalonga was a beast when I used to see him but I'd expect him just as a squad member if he joined. I would indeed be happy the a window like last season as long as obvious week areas are improved with automatic first teamers. To progress we have to buy at least 3 players that are regarded in our best 11. Some of the rumbling from Leicester could end up as the raping of the champs but I just don't see a keeper as high enough up the list of priorities this year. Mac

I agree with Red Neck, "IMO the real big guns won't see us as viable"... Yet! Another successful season and we will attract the big names. I think they will pay homage to Payet, he is the big star (and now name) so I fancy a fellow Frenchman or maybe French speaker. In that case I think Giroud is a very good call! I have faith in Slav, he has brought in some great signings and I expect his summer business will be just as good! COYI's!!!!!!!!!!

I like Giroud but for me he would be a slight inprovement on Sakho, bit more consistent in front of goal. It would be him or Sakho in my opinion, like others say we would want to have another striker in. No idea who though!

Andy that's kinda my point. We only need slightly better and less injury prone IMO the strikers we have are of a good enough quality ATM just need to stay injury free, plus like for like is ok as we may have a lot of games.

I think that would be fine if we had a bigger squad but I think we still need that 15-20 goal striker who starts almost every game, then we can bring in the Sakhos and Carrolls on as options or support. Looking at teams like Everton with Lukaku or Villa when they had Benteke before his flop and then Vardy recently - its not out of the realms of belief.

Another similar player but Graziano Pelle anyone?? Good at finishing and has strength. Lost form a little at Southampton and is a key player for them but if we are trying to sign Vardy then its worth a shot. And he is an international player, only caveat age is not on his side. I know i said im looking for a different type of striker but if we do go for the like for like, he might be a more willing option

I'm not against pelle Andy but I'm not convinced we can get him as he will see us as the same as soton and will probably want Italian football or one of the big boys next. You could argue giroud would too but I think it's wishful thinking on his part

showed for me why we should not sign him...yes he scored but he missed a few chances before that and against an unfancied side.....against better sides even with payet providing the ammo I just don't see him cutting it.
