It's being said that Pedro Obiang, Spanish mid-fielder has signed and passed his medical. Highly rated by Sampdoria fans, apparently not unlike a younger version of Diame...

apparently not as he is waiting for Milan to make an offer, and if they do that will be another one lost!

I think that's the downside of trying to sign players before there's a manager in place mate, seems daft to me that the manager isn't signing his own, the same happened when SA was manager, Zarate, Paulista, asking for problems I reckon

I'd heard that rumour as well, but also heard that it was rubbish! Who knows eh? :-)

But the club has put out a tweet about making a "major new signing in the next 24 hours." But would Obiang be classed as a major signing? Maybe it's somebody else entirely...

Sometimes our clubs idea of a major signing is slightly different to everybody else's, always remember the unveiling of a huge star from the World Cup....Barrera!

Although I'm happy with Bilic I've seen some questions asked about his credentials when DG comes out with the statement about employing a top European manager that's won things, I don't think they help themselves sometimes

and Bilic has gone back to Croatia on holiday so has he left a list for the board? apparently he's a guest of honour at the Croatia v Italy game so lets hope he's networking!

You'd hope so mate, we don't want a scenario similar to Hearts where the owner tried running the team and buying players, it would be nice to do our business early rather than getting players in when the season has started, hopefully he's identified some players

Does anybody know much about this Obiang fella, I just watched some Youtube footage (renowned for giving false hope) and the clips made him look very ordinary, perhaps this is a good omen?

He's young and hopefully has plenty of energy, need someone alongside Kouyate. The clips showed him doing Diamesque stepovers and then crossing to nobody amongst other things, if that was a highlight package he needs a new PR dept

What's with this undisclosed sum bollocks? I see that more and more with our signings. Can't they just say how much they paid so we have an idea of how much is left of the kitty.

Just seen that young Sullivan has tweeted:

"Bit more info on Obiang...cost 6.5m euro, plus another 2m after certain PL starts. Maximum cost to us 8.5m euro"

So don't know why they bothered with the 'undisclosed' bit!

Man city were advised to get Obiang with this Yaya Toure comparison and he was valued at 10mil british pound,so we may have got him for a song LOL

Yep: for those who can't do the Euro-Sterling conversion, we will be paying a maximum of about 5 million quid. Yes I did get the 'Song' quip! :-)))

Article in The Telegraph reckons we could get him for 5 million. Would be a no-brainer at that price, for all his drop in form in the second half of the season, he is is a class player when on form. Perhaps Bilic could play him more as an attacking midfielder as we seem to have plenty of DMs?

We are going to need a bigger squad than we've seen in recent years if we are going to give Europe and the cups a right go; and we need competition for places. Dare I say it, Mark Noble will have to take a step up or be sitting on the bench. And Kev Nolan will not be seen, I guarantee it. Be very interesting to see if Andy Carroll gets much game time, especially if Valencia and Sakho are fit, and, say, if we have Cabaye, or Ba, or Remy or someone of that quality available. Feel good factor starting to return.

Was scouring the internet looking for any news about Lassana Diarra, and whether he might be still wanting to join us; didn't find much on him, but did find this snippet about Obiang in an international sports magazine, written a few days before he signed.

"In comparison to the already-departed Song, Obiang possessed a better goal return as well as his pass accuracy being higher than Song's. Song was also dispossessed of the ball more regularly, as well as encountering more unsuccessful touches over the course of the season."

Yeah that's a funny one with Diarra last i heard he was training with us and his move was blocked by fifa only at west ham "A" lol,and yes more encouragement for us about Obiang, if we do sign song for 5m and Bilic can regain his excellent up to Xmas form what a bargain and good bit of business it could turn out to be,it will be an injury risk gamble though, but for 5m it's got to be worth taking!

Is it true that David Gold tweeted his happiness at signing Obiang with picture and all, but it turned out the picture wasn't Obiang at all but some other player.!!!!!

Haha yeah it's true. He showed a photo of Juventus defender, Angelo Ogbonna! Maybe we are also after him eh? :-) Poor old chap, he is nearly 80! LOL
