Phillipe Anderson Attacking midfield

I am wondering if Anderson might be better as an attacking midfield player, he seemed absolutely lost out on the wing on Saturday run up and down the line and would not cut in and get in the box he has played in midfield before and he certainly didn't look comfortable out on the left wing. A few of us are saying that we have are slow in the midfield if he went attacking midfield he might be a Lanzini type player as he has very quick feet and certainly doesn't lack pace.

Spot on, he is devlishly quick and could cause chaos running through the centre of the Park, but where would that leave Jack Wilshere? Unless Wilshere played a deeper midfield role, but where would that then leave Mark Noble? Three in to two won't go.

That's exactly where Anderson should be playing. What's the point in having 2 full backs playing like wingers and then wide men just behind them? For me it's either Anderson OR wilshere not both.

Pedro is strong enough and resilient enough for the holding role, and he offers a little going forward, too. Always a threat from 30 yards! Allows Felipe to drive forward without fear. I still don't think there was much reason to sign Wheelchair -- haven't seen anything to impress me there yet. Have to hope that Yarmalenko and/or Antonio start producing. Adrian, Balbuena, Rice, Diop, Cresswell, Zaba, Anderson, Obiang, Antonio/Yarmo, Chicha, Elbows.

I think zabaleta might be able to fit in the dm role. With either obiang or rice. Anderson plays in the hole. We need to stiffen up the centre of midfield and stop our defence getting so exposed. Looking at our squad 3 at the back is the best way with cresswell, fredricks and masakalu all poor defensively.

Problem with our wingers is we don't have anyone capable of getting to the byline and picking out the striker with a pass across goal... how many times do you see goals scored against us like this - where a striker nips it at the front post or runs onto it at the back post+ Andersen was sposed to be that guy - to beat the defence with pace and then put someone through. If he goes central, we are relying on crossing balls into the box again which is inconsistent at best!

Covered themselves in glory? The goals especially the first were ridiculous,5 defenders couldnt stop maradonna, sorry i meant wilson (though they made him look like him) im sorry there is a reason why the likes of balbuena were so cheap they are not anywhere near the standard expected, ogbonna has reverted back to the shite form that he shows from time to time & is zaballetta great defensively?no!!

I agree about the wingers poor crossing, but they can't defend either so ax proper full backs the just aren't effective enough. Based on the radio this week Anderson was all over the field Saturday, as a winger you have to cover your full back as well so it requires a certain amount of discipline which I'm not sure Anderson understands. As someone in the hole he can have a free rein.

Has pace but where he is not used to the prem he is not a threat and looks absolutely lost out there, whereas Arfa can run down the wing and seems more used to cutting in and put in crosses to the box for chico and Arnie. Yes, 3into 2 don't go I would drop Noble leave him on the bench and keep him up your sleeve if this doesn't work, and Jack becomes the holding Midfielder. For me, Aaron Cresswell team up with Arfa and that leaves him with Cressie defending. Yes, I did go to the match And I thought he Balbuueno didn't have a bad game until I came home and watched Match of the day, that showed his lame tackle on Callum Wilson and when he just strolls back and the defence parts like the Red Sea. We showed every prem club that if you just run through the middle they just invite you to score Think we need a Collins type player maybe Sanchez can do it or you will see this happening time and time again, we got the talent we just got to hope manny finds it before we get into relegation probs and the way we started last season with 3 losses looks like da JA Vue to me. we got to get a point against gooners

I think he realised that the players weren't anywhere near as fit as they should be when he arrived, he also had to tread carefully initially until he knew the lay of the land, slowly but surely he will put his stamp on HIS team.

I was thinking about this Nev, usually players are given, summer fitness and diet plans to keep them 'fit' throughout the summer and then pre season is used to get match fit. In our case, we sacked all the medical staff and the manager and his coaching staff. So i'd hazard a guess this itself set us back a couple of weeks fitness wise,
