This time last year I wrote a piece here which I called " The First Sunday In September " and with this weekend being a quite weekend football wise I thought some Hammers fans might give this a look. Tomorrow in Dublin, Croke Park will be full to capacity with over 82,000 fans for the All- Ireland hurling final between Galway and Kilkenny. Football is a global game and probably the most popular game in the world. But this game is recognised as the fastest field game in the world and though I love football and the Hammers this to me is the best field game in the world . Lonely Planet guide listed it in the top ten "local" sports that every traveller should see. National Geographic said The All- Ireland hurling final is the " sporting experience of a lifetime". Some of the Hammers fans that saw it for the first time last year were blown away by it .It's an amateur game with no money involved played by people like you and me for the love of their Club and their County. I'm from Kilkenny they lead the national role of honour with 35 titles, and their nickname is The Cats. So my user name here tells you where I'm from. Galway haven't won a title since 1988, so I wouldn't begrudge them one tomorrow. Sky Sports has covered the game from last season and for the next two. This has given the game a world wide audience. If you want to give it a look it's on Sky Sports 5 tomorrow from around 3 o' clock. I don't think you will be too disappointed.

Through my lifetime(my mother being from county cork),incredibly fast game & entertaining-Enjoy tomorrow Cat!!

One of my mates as a youngen used to have Irish family and owned a Hurling stick - I remember it being a flat hockey stick with a metal band around the blade... I've never seen it played but from what I heard its quite brutal at times!? Would be interesting to see a game

Burkie 1

You weren't too far out with your prediction burkie, it wasn't a classic. Galway failed to kick on in the second half and the cats had too much experience on how to win and close out a game. Had a good day with a couple of days to recover.

I've just got Back from a holiday in the 'old country' and I saw the semi final, Galway V Tipp, a great game, let's hope the final lives up to that standard. Unfortunately I won't be able to watch the final, SKY sports doesn't reach us here in Jozi, I will just have to listen to it on the radio. Good luck to the Cats tomorrow.
