I have a nasty suspicion that he will be given a new contract. We will never be more than a mid table side with him as manager because tactically he cannot adapt his style of play during the course of a match and despite moments throughout this season when we all thought that he had changed his ways he has reverted to type.

We've won 2 games in the last 15, if we don't win at least 4 of the remaining 9 games he won't deserve (or expect) a contract renewal. He is a very good defensive manager (safe pair of hands), he is a poor offensive manager. Changing from a safe pair of hands to an new manger is a risk, but I think it's time to take that risk.

For a very good defensive manager we have given up a shitload of points from winning positions in the last 9 games.

Have a history of not sacking managers unless its really needed (i.e avram!).Will they give it another season with sam to ensure prem safety going into the O.S ignoring the calls from the fans to get rid of him?His contract ends in the summer so that would suit both parties, but imo if sugo were going to get rid of him wouldnt it be easier to blood a new manager in now for the rest of this season..the mind boggles....

I totally agree wiyt all 4 posts,it is time to call a halt with BFS and get a new manager. He has taken us as far as he can,we need new blood in the team from our youngsters and new game plans, without Nolan now.

I really can't see the owners being too adventurous with a new manager, I think if Sam goes at the end of his contract we'll end up with a very 'safe' replacement, after all the club won't fetch quite the same amount of money when we move to the OS if we're relegated into the Champs, I would expect Moyes to be high up on the list, personally though I think we'll be stuck with Mr Allardyce

Brady is a staunch fan of Sam so would not be surprised if he stays, disappointed but not surprised."don't get relegated safety option"

We've consolidated our position in the league. It is highly unlikely we would get relegated unless we hired another Avram/Roeder and I think the board are too smart for that, or at least are putting in enough effort so they come up with a decent option.

We can't keep relying on the safety first option of Sam if we are looking to progress. Those days have to be consigned to the past and if we want to push on get a manager who is not afraid to take a chance on giving a kid (who we fought tooth and nail to keep) a chance rather than shifting players into un-favoured positions. I'm tired of the negativity that seems to have been restored back into the team. Only one man responsible for that and he has to go!

Yes he should not have his contract renewed.
Give him a nice gold watch and a thank you for your hard works letter.
Fans applaud him and lets just cut the cord.
Time is well and truly here to end the pain.

Sunderland have sacked manager Gus Poyet after a run of just one victory in 12 Premier League games. The writing is on the wall. Cannot see G&S offering him a new contract on improved terms when we're delivering results on par with relegation favourites
