When are the England hierarchy ever going to get it in their thick heads that flooding the England football team with Spurs players, doesn't work. They do not have a winning mentality, and are full of the most over-rated English players. It beggars belief. This is a National side, it's our side. Why is this Eric Dier bloke even thought of as an England player? Danny Rose comes on and immediately throws himself to the floor. Deli Ali? you're 'aving a Steffi surely? Harry the nose Kane had better come up with a good excuse for someone who bangs them in week after week against lowly opposition in league matches, was he injured I wonder? Kieran Trippier was very good and well done to him, really well done. Anyway I wanted us to win the World Cup the same as any Englishman but got sick of the media hype that always comes with these big tournaments. "Let's go over live to Keiran Trippiers school.." Tell you what, let's not. Even 3 Lions got on my tits. We did very well to get so far and I was so pleased but I'd just about had enough by then and it would seem so did a lot of the players.

yer, how many lions used to roam the savanna's of england? i don't get why we have that as our emblem. i agree with you about the hype, the last commentator i had was waffling on as bad as martin tyler. telling us about the last man to 'kick a ball in a semi final for england', or how so and so was 14 months old when england played in 1990…waffle, waffle, waffle. who cares about this crap? also whats this utter nonsense about some countries having 'know how' like brazil because they won it 5 times. none of the current team played when they last won it, none of the staff are still there…where do they get this 'know how'? they just the same as everyone else ffs. talk about england and suffering under 'expectation' what about the likes of Argentina, brazil, germany, spain,….are we on our own when it comes to expectations? the difference is the others don't moan about it, they just get on with it.

How many lions roamed the savannas of England? Apparently it was 3. They died out because they were coloured blue and were a bit deformed in appearance.

Should have been out of sight first half, then sat too deep & invited croatia in...never get a better chance of winning it,but unfortunately the defeatist attitude of england teams in recent times set in towards the end,its a pity but something to build on & there are a lot of good youngsters coming through

The rule is: No West Ham, No World cup :o)

And I thought the World Cup rule was, it takes 3 West Ham players to win a World Cup. Perhaps they changed it.

Watched the 3rd/4th place play off yesterday & Belgium were a class above...As were croatia towards the end of the 2nd half.Pickford,Trippier,Mcguire & Stones have been a revelation, but who else has been something special??Kane turned into carlton cole in the last 2 matches (couldnt hit a cows arse with a banjo) Rose is not international class,Ali,Lingard flatter to decieve & dont get me started on Sterling, granted a lot of effort but if he was still playing into the night he would never score!!Its brought the country together for the best summer weather over here in donkeys years, but for me we were lucky with the teams we were drawn against & there is a hell of a long way to go before England are world beaters.

i said before about 'looking for the good draw'. all along that was the plan. in effect, are you not simply deceiving yourselves? surely you need to play and beat the best teams in order to say you have achieved something? I'm not being funny but anyone half decent would expect to beat : Tunisia, Panama, Colombia, Sweden and probably Croatia. Look at it this way, if we'd got Belgium's draw and went out 3-0 to Brazil, would there be the same 'optimism'? i was optimistic before the tournament thinking it was a young, hungry team but the set up was all wrong - it was obvious to me that Loftus cheek should have been in the midfield and not lingard and that sterling should have been wide. now we won't hear the last of the genius that is 'southgate'.

Before the tournament i wasnt even bothered about watching it,the usual hype,etc..but i think the whole country has got swept along with the tide...I said plenty of times Loftus-cheek should have started & Rashford i reckon as well.I do believe though southgate has done a good job in blooding these youngsters & a lot of them playing with out fear...but isnt it funny the players we are raving about are probably the least well known out of the team!!Says to me the superstars cant really cut it,better to have a team full of down to earth grafters that want to play for their country.Cold light of day we lost twice to Belgium & against France on their day they would have ripped us apart!!

Dicksy, 65. I can't help thinking you kinda missed the point THIS time round. Normally I'd agree totally with you, but this time, IMO we over peformed. A lot of people got carried away with England as usual just at a later stage. When it all started most didn't give us a chance and would have been happy to get out of the group. That was seen as a success. Look at some of the comments on here originally. Personally I didn't even expect us to finish in the top 2 of our group. Being critical after the event is easy. Did either of you expect England to do well? How many of our players did you rate going into the competition? Look at where we were before the World Cup and where we are now. There are definately positives for me but let's stay realistic. We played better football, quicker, and trippier, McGuire and stones came of age. Pickford probably nailed on his place. And Henderson has surprised me. Off the top of my head that's all. None of the others changed my opinion. Ali and sterling poor Ali was the worst England player of all. Lingaurd meh. Kane rode a lot of hype 3 pens one deflection and a couple poached from dead balls. Nowhere near enough for the hype given to him. Dire limited player who looks like he has put on weight! Ratchford pretty much ineffective. Delph what was the point? IMO we have had decent positive progress no billy big bollocks egos but Southgate only ATM has half a squad to pick from. And that's where we are at the moment. If in 2 years time we have a similar squad then we won't progress further.having the likes of Cahill, Jones, Delph as our back up will get us no where. People like linguard, needs to be a squad player and both Ali and sterling need direct replacements so when they don't perform they get hooked. In truth Southgate still has a hell of a lot to do to his squad but signs are encouraging.

Who got carried away with it at the later stage, purely because of the draw we had,i did think colombia would be a tricky game but we got through it.Sweden i thought before the game we would beat them, then lo & behold we were in the semi final.By winning the previous games we looked like we were in good shape & we were for the first half against Croatia,i couldnt see us losing it at half time we were so dominant. But croatia were a different side 2nd half & as usual we just wernt good enough,so yes i got carried away with it but i wasnt surprised we lost to Croatia
