Not Fit To Wear The Shirt(S)

Back in the day, it was not uncommon for a certain player to run on the pitch at the Boleyn to be greeted with a chorus of "you're not fit to wear the shirt" within a couple of minutes of taking to the field.

Of course over the years the player's name changed but the sentiment remained the same, wearing the Claret and Blue was an absolute honour and one that a player had to be well and truly proud of!

The game has changed beyond recognition since then, home grown players are virtually non existent and loyalty is for the length of the contract signed at the most! However, last night's abysmal performance against championship side Bristol City showed up three individuals who were NOT fit to wear the shirt!

Danny Ings, Aaron Cresswell AND Said Benrahma should NEVER wear the Claret and Blue ever again unless it is for Burnley or Villa and neither of those clubs are stupid enough to contemplate signing ANY of the 'bad bunch'!

Indeed, Villa's hierarchy still have reserved in their calendar 'thirsty thursday', which is for a monthly drink up to 'commemorate' selling Ings to the Irons!

No wonder youth players don't want to stay at a club that offers them bugger all but pays massive wages for totally useless players! "Not fit to wear the shirt? "Not fit to clean the boots of the youth players" more like! - Ed

Will Moyes go to the board today and say see i told you that the players on the bench were not good enough thats why i always leave them there and flog the others to death? of course not but if he wants to stay and "change" our style of play then he should be demanding better things from them in this transfer window but the constant mantra of we have no money ffp bad window to buy in trotted out so moving the club to compete with the big boys in the league is again proven to be a falsehood.

our front three will be gone in the summer as we fall down the league and out of europe and every fan here sees that but when you hear we want to model the club on the red bull image buy young decent players and if you get one maybe two good ones then sell to the "bigger" clubs surely you realise that suddenly it is not about glory or trophies anymore it is just a business and the only aim for the owner/s is stay in the big league buy cheap sell big look at your bank balance and think well done....fans errr who are they what do they do!.....rant over for now blood pressures going up lol

I could not believe what I was watching, all be it in front of my TV and not in the freezing cold of Bristol. However I will be in Sheffield on Sunday with absolutely no confidence in what I shall be witnessing in the freezing shithole.

Ings look of disgust at getting the hook was unbelievable. It was as if we had all turned out to watch his new hair all quaffered glistening in the floodlights. Absolute toilet and Cornet too boot!!! As for Benrahma what a joke, at least I wont be witnessing him on Sunday!!!

Just as a caveat, how many fans are missing Declan Rice now?

With the exception of one ,( Emerson,) all those players out there were Championship and div 1 status. When we are without the three musketeers we are dier .
There's an awful lot of rebuilding to do with the squad poxy board should have seen this comming .

And all you professed Hammers fans, lets break this down a bit.
Cresswell has been a loyal servant to this club since 2104 and has recently been deployed on recent occasions as a CB in a back three which is alien to his game without a LWB to back up his game (Masuaka springs to mind a well as Benni) We'd need a podcast to discuss the merits of Cresswell for all his recent ageing failings which no-one all of a sudden are prepared to offer a player who wanted away this summer.
Benrahma is a different case, a confidence player who was never gonna get a pat on the back from Moyes no matter how well he played, and he HAS given us some moments where if given the chance, we could see the player we bought. An attacking wing/midfielder who has been told to forget all that and defend like a defensive midfielder.
Ings joins a trinity of high profile, high scoring forwards such as Scamacca and Haller who have failed at one club, namely THIS club and THIS manager.
All have hardly played a game this season, All want away (maybe not Ings on his wages which is hardly his fault for accepting), and ALL are not match sharp, shoved into a miserable game against a team of butchers who were happy to boot their way through a game with a soft referee to aid them
If I'm honest, I thought Coufal was going to be the one with the red for justified retaliation and while not approving of Bennis reaction, could see it coming from SOMEONE a long way off. Moyes didn't.
