Forget the F.A. cup

Yup that says it all...our prem status is all important not winning things but staying in the money league does....thats modern football for you...6 days rest play wba tonight spuds thursday then 3 days later the cup game which is already being sold as a game to far.....expect a bfs against forest job few years back so those marvelous traveling fans will get shafted again...we are never going to win the league and relegation we have been there before so as rotten as that is we deal with it and carry on so we look to the cups but as usual we will not take this seriously because it could stop our board money gathering from the richest league in the world as for the supporters well lets give them a few headlines about buying this player that player to keep them happy but for some reason just miss out and so the circus goes on.....its not what football is about but hey why let that get in the way of making money.

Apparently our away allocation has been sold out, which is normally the case with our wonderfull support...i was considering going to the game (always a good atmosphere away) but havnt for the reason you state - probably be fielding a reserve side!!A kick in the teeth imo for the fans who remember what it was like to win an F.A cup,but like you say its all about money nowadays & sod the fans....

Anyone unlikely to win the league should be taking it seriously. The board are treating us like we are stupid!

But it gets more competitive every year in the Championship so getting promotion within a season or three isn't the rite of passage it once was. With the mercenary culture in the PL these days too you can bank on losing your starting 11 (that could be a good thing when considering relegation) with many on a free as per their contract agreement. A key factor in the demise of the FA Cup is the TV companies making a mockery of teams having to play two or three days apart over the holiday period and then comes the FA Cup 3rd round. Staying on the gravy train is important to every business and I respect that although I'd love us to have a go at a strong cup run.

The problem with the holiday period fixture list this season is all PL teams were told an additional game would be squeezed in to allow for an earlier finish to the season due to the WC. Of course these dickheads aren't smart enough to consider squeezing that game in earlier in the season when for the first couple of months the games are played once a week. Why squeeze it into the already ridiculously congested xmas period. Morons.

I agree, absolute dickheads. If those that run the game don't value the FA Cup then why would the clubs. The extra fixture early in the season to encourage players to reach 100% match fitness as quickly as possible would benefit clubs and national team with the first international break in September every year.

How many international breaks were there early season?4 or 5 two week breaks & that was just after the mid-season break!!now the games are 3 a week for some teams, ridiculous congestion that could have been avoided if someone at the F.A. had half a brain!!

They should have made better use of the breaks for the National team and not concentrate all these matches during this period, considering also the climatic conditions
