Nayef Aguerd's transfer from Rennes to the Stratford Stadium is all but confirmed according to much respected French news outlet L'Equipe, the 26 year old Moroccan International central defender's move will NOT be officially announced until he has completed his International commitments next week.
The delay is understandable both for logistical and financial reasons, there is also the small matter of Hammers dreadful record of having players injured while away representing their countries. Fluent French speaking Aguerd will join a distinctly Gallic backline alongside Kurt Zouma in front of newly promoted to number one keeper Alphonse Areola who's move from PSG is due to be confirmed AFTER the current International fixtures.

Hammers new head of recruitment Rob Newman has extensively reviewed players from Ligue 1 and decided they represent the best value on the market given the perilous financial state of most club's in France, last season the French government 'bailed' the clubs out because of the failed TV deal with Bein Sports, this season they are on their own, hence the player 'fire sale' that will begin on the 10th of June.

West Ham fans can expect to see more 'accute'-'graves' than a Co Op funeral director in the next few weeks, Allez les Bleues! - Ed

What matters is do we have the right man in the job doing the scouting and data crunching on players stats....we will see very soon if Rob Newman is worth the wage....and Rmbr Dawson we all thought WTF have we got that journeyman for but he proved us and many others wrong a real bargain.
